Scott, Linda, Alex, Henry

We stopped in at Gilley’s Dallas which is located within walking distance from the Dallas Convention center and met Alex Debogorski from Ice Road Truckers.   Henry Albert, Scott Kinley and I all had our picture taken with Alex.   He is a big man and when he hugged me I thought I had disappeared!   While I have never seen Ice Road Trucker but I have heard many stories about the show and the dangerous career these guys have.

Our group also attended the” Too Hot to Trot” 5K and were able to meet Mike Reilly, President and CEO of Randall-Reilly Publishing which is the owner of Great American Truck Show.   Mike is a runner and he showed his stuff at the 5K finishing two minutes before Henry and me.   Henry and I stayed together during the 5K with me running most of the way and Henry and his long legs just striding along.   I told Henry I felt like a little Shetland pony trying to keep up with a long legged Thoroughbred.

We also stopped by and saw Dick McCorkle, Kurt Grote, and Henry Albert’s Slice of Trucker Life trucks.   The trucks were looking good and getting to talk with drivers who are driving a 2011 truck with all of the new technology is always a learning experience.   Rick Ash, Chairman of The Trucking Solutions Group is pictured along with Bob, Henry, and Kurt.

We also attended a HTAA brunch and had our picture taken with Lindsay Lowen and Marvin Shefsky from Driver Health.   Our group is the Driver Council to HTAA and this is the second brunch we have attended.   These are always nice events and we enjoy the fellowship. Marvin Shefsky of Driver Health and Ramp Media is a hoot and he always keeps thing interesting.   I consider Marvin a friend and great person to know.   We are not country western fans so really do not really know Lindsay’s music but she enjoyed getting her picture taken with a group of truck drivers.

Rick, Jack, Linda

We stopped to visit with Jack from Air Tabs.   Jack and the crew from Air Tabs are a great bunch of guys and always supportive of everything we do.   We have had Air Tabs on our truck for five years and have never regretted the decision to put these on.

 

Rick, Tom, Leesa, Kevin, Bob

We stopped at the OPS1 booth and visited with Kevin Rutherford, Leesa Campbell, and Tom Bock.   Bob installed an OPS1 on our truck three years ago.   This system is very easy to use and has saved us a fortune.    Tom and Artie are great people to work with and are always available to answer questions about an oil sample or their system.   We have also known Leesa and Kevin for several years, have attended two CMC events and also heard Kevin speak at a few events.   We consider them among our friends and are constantly learning from them and what they are involved in.

We have never left a truck show feeling as if we wasted our time or did not learn something and/or meet someone who is awesome in our industry.   This truck show was no different!
