We were able to participate in a special project this past year that has been very different than anything we have done before. We were told that for the project we would need our lift gate and we would be delivering to several residences. Delivering to houses is much different than delivering to a dock.
  • Walking to the Principal's Office

I still have not got over my fear at a scale house when the sign says go around back driver and bring in your paperwork. When I see this sign my heart sinks and I start wondering what in the world have I done wrong now and what will the scale master say?
  • Throwing yourself at life
    Mar 12, 2010
I was talking to Henry Albert the other day about how in the world do I get involved in so much? I just figured I could not say no. Too many things peek my interest and I end up saying yes.
  • White Glove
    Mar 11, 2010
Yesterday was a good paying, VERY low mileage day. The entire morning consisted of driving about 20 miles, and then spending time assisting a White Glove Services truck with the unloading and inside delivery of some large computer equipment. Sometimes that happens... with a large, heavy load, or if it is a labor intensive load... they will call in van drivers to help with bigger trucks. When I got there, it was a good thing I went in first. The company had no dock, and the door they wanted the equipment delivered to was kind of hidden.
  • Driver Health Walk
    Mar 10, 2010
Our organization The Trucking Solutions Group Drivers Health Council has been working very hard with Driver Health and other organizations to have the first fun walk at MATS. We have been having weekly conference calls for several months finalizing arrangements and we have some great sponsors I want to start sharing.
  • Still the King!
    Mar 9, 2010
Yep, I am still the King of Dry Runs! I had a nice run up near Toronto, Ontario which delivered last night. On the way up, I was pre-dispatched to assist with a White Glove delivery in Rochester, NY. After delivery last night, I came over towards Rochester, and went to sleep. Upon arriving at the customer this morning, I checked in, and waited for the other truck to arrive.
  • Beach ND is no beach
    Mar 8, 2010
We planned to stop on our way to Bismarck, ND in Beach at the Flying J. I really did not have visions of getting to walk on a beach but, still I had my hopes for nice sidewalks or even could I dare hope boardwalks?
  • What a difference!
    Mar 8, 2010
So, I was hangin out in Southern Virginia, workin on my tan when.... what? Oh yeah... man.. what a difference a week makes! Last week, driving by snow piles higher than my van, by this Friday, I was in 50's weather, sunshine, window down, enjoying the warm breeze !
  • Hurtling through space
    Mar 6, 2010
It was my turn to drive this morning on I90 in the great state of Washington and it was raining. I started driving at 2:00 in the morning just east of the Snoqualmie Mountain and I needed to go west. The night was dark and it had just started to rain.
  • Why as an industry do we almost always shun change
    Mar 4, 2010
Change is a part of life and if we do not change with the times we soon will be no more. We are always looking for ways to improve our business and our lives. It is hard for me to imagine having in my life without a goal.
