Five in a row: Fuel prices continue steady decline

For the fifth consecutive week, the average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel dropped, falling 1.6 cents during the week ending June 29, according to the Department of Energy.

The U.S.' average price for a gallon of diesel is now $2.843, which is $1.077 lower than the same week last year.

Prices went down in all regions, with the most significant decrease coming from the West Coast less California region as well as California, which both saw a 2.9-cent decrease during the week. The Gulf Coast region saw a 2.5-cent drop.

The nation's most expensive diesel is in California at $3.141 per gallon, followed by the Central Atlantic region at $3.094 per gallon.

The cheapest diesel in the country is in the Gulf Coast region at $2.73 per gallon, followed by the Midwest region at $2.731 per gallon.
