Expedite freight is the most exciting aspect of the trucking industry.   Expedite freight might be a painting worth untold millions of dollars that needs to not only be temperature controlled but specially secured and handled with white gloves, or a part needed immediately to fix a medical machine to save someone’s life.  Any freight that has to be handled with special care or has to move quickly can be classified as expedite freight and it takes special companies and drivers to work with it.

Try Hours Expedited Services, Maumee, Ohio, founded in 1989 by Tim Wojkiewicz, is a company on the move in the expediting world.   From their start as a Midwest regional ground expedite company in 1989 to 2007 when they went to national service, Try Hours has shown impressive growth especially over the last five years regardless of the poor economy found elsewhere.

Guaranteeing their customers pick-up service within 90 minutes and delivery within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment time, only the best owner operators and drivers in the expedite field are sought to work with Try Hours.   From sprinters and cargo vans to straight trucks and semis, Try Hours can service almost any size of special handling, just in time or emergency shipment from the smallest to the largest throughout the US, Canada and Mexico.  (Try Hours does have freight that goes to Mexico, but their owner operators do not cross the southern border.   Any freight going to Mexico is transferred to a carrier that runs there at the border.)   For international or even faster service than can be provided by ground transportation, Try Hours can provide a variety of air charter cargo transportation or ground/air combination options.

Using Qualcomm systems to provide customers with up to the minute tracking of their freight, dispatchers with combined totals of over 100 years in the trucking industry and qualified drivers, Try Hours provides customers with some of the best service in the expedite industry.  Phil Weiner, head of recruiting and safety reports, “Try Hours is a family owned mid-sized company that has had continuous growth over the last 5 years.  We have a solid customer base where companies actually contact us directly rather than bidding on all of our freight.  Try Hours has a well established 26 year track record.”

For owner operators, Try Hours offers excellent rates for all sizes of expedite equipment plus fuel surcharge and other accessory pay.   With the usual light weight of expedite cargo, fuel economy is high and wear and tear of the equipment much less than in hauling regular freight.   With miles averaging 1,400-2,800 for solos to 2,500-5,000 for teams, depending on the type of equipment, solo or teams find it easy to be successful at Try Hours Expedited Services, Inc.   Furthermore, drivers get to know their dispatchers and are a name not a number due to a comfortable 9:1 driver to dispatcher ratio.

Single truck owner operators, fleet owners and drivers for fleet owners are recruited at Try Hours.   Weiner says applying and orientation time varies, “Once an applicant applies, it takes a couple hours depending on the applicant to process.   Orientation is on Tuesdays and Thursdays and if not a DOT vehicle, we will get drug results immediately; DOT vehicles results are next day.  While the driver(s) are in orientation, the truck is equipped with Qualcomm and decals.  The truck is available for dispatch right after orientation and drug results.”

Dedicated to safety, Try Hours runs e-logs.   Weiner and the safety staff offer comprehensive training on CSA, changing regulations and other safety training as needed.   Weiner says the above is accomplished through Qualcomm newsletters and by phone if necessary.

Not only is Try Hours Expedited Services, Inc. a premier expediting company, they are also a company with a big heart giving back to the community and nation that supports them.   Try Hours is affiliated with the following charities and organizations: Wreaths Across America – Delivering wreaths from Maine to cemetery in PA for fallen soldiers graves, MS Society – Matching employee donations, MS Society – Use of vehicle for the MS Walk, Wounded Warrior’s, St. Francis de Sales High School – Endowment Fund Donations, American Cancer Society, Bowling Green State University Bike 4 Tikes/Mercy Children’s Hospital – Use of vehicle from BG to Cincinnati.
