its a sad case ...big time..
but i feel its not that he was watching porn..... it was that he was on the lap top.. PERIOD!!...... and i know other drivers. personaly....... whom claim of watching movies.. emails.. etc..... while DRIVING!! AND TEXTING....... omg.. the list goes on.
PLUS........ this driver was running Illegal logs.. 4 hrs sleep..

Yes, what a shame for everyone. But we as drivers will hear, see and feel the repercussions for a very long time. All for the most part will see is that it was a big truck,and thereby painting us all with the same brush. Can't count the number of 4 wheelers who watch mini dvd players, do makeup,eat,groom etc. Where are the reprimands to his company, if the driver isn't given enough time to do his run safely, company's have to allow ample time, of course if the driver really was at total fault it's a different story. I could go on and on...

You are right. Viewing the porn on the laptop was just another way the media captures our attention. The driver might just have easily been on EBay or Craig's list shopping. Could have happened to 4-wheeler as well.

That section of the NY Thruway is always an adventure. It is always a crap shoot in the winter, as to what the road conditions may be. I've been on that thruway where traffic was limited to 20 mph due to the mounting snow and along comes a big truck in the passing lane blowing by everyone else.

I've refused many a trip headed toward the finger lakes, or even Rochester for the above reason(s) in the winter. Just the thought of Erie, PA to Dunkirk, NY in January is not worth the small amount of money it pays to deliver to the prison there.

Addicted? To a cell phone? To a computer? They are just tools or toys. I doubt that we are all addicted to a bunch of tools. That would be like being addicted to a hammer. At least, that is how I look at it.

hmmmmmmmmm do you call everyone that makes poor choices and because of that someone dies a murderer? That is foolish just from the post it seems like he did several things wrong illegal log being one of them as well. What he was looking at or wasn't looking at doesn't matter had he been watching sponge bob would it have been any better?
