America Revealed: Ripples, Racism, Paternalism and :censoredsign: Shame

i dont know what to say other then this is why the USA is the way it is . both sides /all sides need to grow up .

there is some bad words but alot of truth of how others treat and say about others .

i dont care if you are black or white . i dont care if you like Rush Limbaugh or you hate him or anybody else named . i dont care if you are right wing or left wing .

i believe NO HUMAN should be treated like that . WE ALL HAVE RIGHTS

"This is the world we live in. This is what women (we all )deal with all the time. We are stifled, slandered, disrobed, prodded and humiliated for the sake of control.

When women (we all) collectively demand anything that resembles equality or something that would lead to our empowerment, the forces that work against us will get around eventually to robbing us of dignity and ripping off our clothes in public to expose our private parts. The latest war on women over mandated birth control coverage is the perfect setup for the female and male misogynists on the right to begin singling out one brave woman standing up for her own empowerment and heaping on the :censoredsign: shame. It's so schoolyard-ish, it's almost unworthy of attention but this is a widespread problem."

the quotions i added and is what i say . it is not just the women being treated that way

"It's so schoolyard-ish, it's almost unworthy of attention but this is a widespread problem."

I don't believe she was standing up for empowerment. If that were the case, she will have a tough time winning that support as she wants her contraception paid for by the taxpayers rather than herself.
The poor girl is being used as a pawn for political purposes and just hasn't figured it out yet.
I will agree on one thing. It is not worthy of the attention it is getting. If she wants birth control, pay the 9 dollars a month or go to a free clinic and pay nothing.

i dont know the full story about what Rush said or about the women he said it about . or what is really going on about the brith control .

MY main thing is the way people are treating others . IT IS TIME WE GROW UP it is time we use the facts to betterment of all of us . it is time the USA moves forward not backward . and when people act/ treat others like they have been there is no moveing forward .

my wife is on brith control and it is NOT for brith control . it is for control at that time she would get bad pains . since she has been taking brith control she has not got those pains .

so i ask what should be said about my wifes brith control. (which our insurance pays for ) i just want it known that birth control isnt just used as a contraception .

pawn for political purposes and is that what her or anybody should be .

i agree there is lot that tax payers are paying or are expected to pay . and we should be paying for alot of the stuff ourselfs

Women can take a small piece of foam, about the size of a hockey puck, and place it between their knees. They simply press their knees together to hold the foam in place. A small coin, like a quarter also works. As long as the foam piece or coin stays tightly between their knees, they won't get pregnant. Guaranteed.

They used asprin that way as well. 100% effective. Cheap too, even career students can afford them. Good thing, I can't afford to cover other's pleasures. Their responsibility, not mine.

Rush mouthed off, so has a zillion others. It is just wrong to only pick on one. Too easy.

But then there would be an epidemic of men's carpel tunnel syndrome for healthcare to cover.

Or here's another thought...

My feelings exactly, Why should the taxpayer be burdened with another Govt. Give away that would without a doubt raise our premiums because you can bet that the Ins. companies won't eat the cost and pass it on to us!

Just stop and think about what this Fluke person is claiming. She and the other co-eds (or their parents) can afford the tuition for Georgetown Law School, plus the accessorial costs like books, living expenses like rent, utilities, etc in that area - the total annual costs amount to about $64,000**. She's seriously claiming she and her peers can't afford birth control, so somebody else should give to them free of charge?? Even if it did cost anywhere near her fantasy estimate of $1000 per year, it would be a comparative drop in the bucket for these high rollers. Limbaugh missed a huge opportunity to expose this woman as a liar and a fraud, and discredit the issue entirely; too bad his interpretation was totally off base.

Rush Limbaugh's comments didn't surprise me, it's what he does & who he is - but are all you guys that retarded too?
First, it's not about asking the taxpayers to pay for anything - it's the insurance companies who pay, after they collect premiums for that purpose. Do none of you have insurance?
Second, birth control isn't just for preventing conception - as cl cooper said, it's the only effective treatment for endometriosis. Having spent 2 days of every 28 curled up in a ball of misery from age 14 to 24 [when I first took the pill], I can attest to that personally. [While ****ing every MD who didn't suggest them for all those years, because of their misguided attitudes about sex].
I bet Rush expects his insurance to pay for his Viagra, though, after he got caught attempting to smuggle in a large quantity a few years ago.....
And he considers himself an arbiter of other peoples' morals?!

I am not retarded. And Rush is self insured.

I am not retarded and the president of the United States has NO BUSINESS dictating to private industry what they are required to do or not do. How fascist of him!

It does amaze me just how much freedom people are willing to give up. Why is that? We are the FIRST country that is WILLINGLY give up control over the government and REQUEST dictatorship. Weak minds. Weak spirit. Weak souls.

I suffered through it. what is your point? That a rich (or at least funded by the 1%), anti catholic, pro abortion 30 year old 'student' selected a catholic school to attend just so she could complain and force a religious organization to cover something that is against the churchs beliefs?

She went to Georgetown just to cause a stur about this every issue.

The problem is she wants health care providers mandated to pay for contraception services. Some don't want to pay for this service let alone someone else's. That was the premise of the Limbaugh argument. So the question becomes, should they be forced to?
And that bit from Fluke about her contraception is a grand a month sounds like one huge spin for the purposes of an agenda.

If we are mandating this for health care providers, will brocolli follow next because it is goooood for you?
Government should'nt be involved in this mandate type of stuff.

Well, it was a grand a year (actually, three grand over three years of law school). Ms. Fluke isn't paying much for Georgetown, as she attends on scholarships. She works, but it doesn't pay much. The problem, still, is with that $1000 per year for contraception. According to Fluke, without insurance coverage to pay for contraception, many students and women in low paying jobs must go without contraception. “You might respond that contraception is accessible in lots of other ways," Fluke told the Democratic panel. "Unfortunately, that's not true." [There's your huge spin, right there.]

OK, if you use the brand name versions of The Pill (some of them, anyway), they can cost as much as $90 per month, which is $1080. So the grand a year is real, if you use the highest priced contraceptive pill there is. However, generics are a different story. A CVS pharmacy only two blocks from the Georgetown Law campus sells a month's supply of the Tri-Sprintec, the generic form of the birth-control pill Ortho Tri-Cyclen, for $33, that's $396 a year. The Target 3 miles from Georgetown has a one-month supply of the same generic for a whopping nine bucks for those without health care insurance. That's a crippling $108 per year.

Contraception by the numbers....

$9
Monthly cost of some generic versions of the birth control pill ($108 a year)

$90
Monthly cost of some brand-name versions of the pill ($1,080 a year)

$55
Monthly cost of vaginal ring or birth-control patch ($660 a year)

$60
Annual cost of using a diaphragm and spermicide, including mandatory doctor's exam

$150
Annual cost of using condoms, twice a week

$220-$460
Annual cost of getting a birth control shot (Depo-Provera)

$600-$1,000
One-time cost of getting an intrauterine device (IUD) implanted (effective for up to 12 years)

$350-$1,000
One-time cost of a vasectomy (male sterilization)

$1,500-$6,000
One-time cost of female sterilization

$0
Up-front cost of abstinence and "fertility awareness" (rhythm method)

5
Percent of U.S. women who use an IUD, which is 99 percent effective

75
Percent of participants in a 10,000-woman St. Louis study that chose IUDs from a range of free contraception options

80
Percent of those IUD users who have stuck with the method after a year

50
Percent of birth control pill users in the same study who've stuck with their choice after a year

6.7 million
Pregnancies in the U.S. each year

3.2 million
Unintended pregnancies in the U.S. each year (49 percent of total)

$12,500
Annual amount average, middle-income couples spend on each child, according to the USDA

$11.1 billion
Public funds spent on the births of unintended babies in 2006 ($6.5 billion federal, $4.6 billion states)

$7 billion
Amount Medicaid and other government programs saved in 2008 by investing $1.9 billion in family planning centers (Guttmacher Institute)

99
Percent of women age 15-44 who've had sex and used contraception at some point

50
Percent of women on the pill who say they take it for non-contraceptive health reasons (often as well as for birth control)
