how many miles will a 8.3cummins last

I would get the damper replaced. They recommend changing it out at around 350,000 miles. I had mine done and it ran much smoother. If it goes it can mess alot of stuff up.

    Running cool

Yeh it idles cool at 30 degrees. I had one thermostat replaced last spring but I did not know there are two. Maybe that is it. Fluids are fine there is no mixing of oil and what not. Fan does not stick and I had a pressure test done also in the spring and everything tested fine. I am thinking it...

Who has it tougher and why?

I agree. I started in a cargo van and went to a straight to accomodate more freight, but I had more room to sleep in my CV. I have an fl60 with an integral sleeper. 30" wide and 76' long right behind the seats. As far as who has it tougher I suppose it depends on specifics. I have not driven...

Follow Panther Execs As They Haul Freight

I hear ya Fastrod, also why do some folks act like because these two don't drive for a living they are bumbling idiots. They may not understand all the idiosyncrasies of driving but I imagine they would shortly be among the top performers if they went to driving full time. One of them is the CEO...

    Running cool

First off thanks again to Greg and Dave for the advice on my sensor. I just replaced it I haven't checked to see if it works yet. I wanted to find out if it is normal for my engine to idle at 120 degrees and below. The problem is I have no heat in cold weather unless I am moving. As soon as I...

    Lucas Oil Treatment

I have used the oil treatment and the injector cleaner and both have worked well. The injector cleaner does help with increased mileage, but that may be due to the fuel running more rich. I also talked with a Landstar O/O who spoke highly of it. We both have straights, Cummins and CAT.

Follow Panther Execs As They Haul Freight

If the point is to understand the drivers position then it should be incognito. If it is charity bring out the fanfare. So which is it? This job can be tough and rewarding regardless of what we drive van or straight. We are all can dwellers out here not knowing where we will be next. BTW...

    O.K , I'm back ...from Israel

I too would like to see natural Israel, but the closest one can get to God is in his heart. If one believes in Jesus Christ that person has become the holy land.

    Are you ready for Winter?

I figured the turn down factor was what you were getting at. My belts look good, sounds like a good reason to change them. Hey OVM don't you mean what is summer?

    Detention Time

I am not sure. I have a buddy who drives a TT and he mentioned about logging off duty time and our call was ended before I could ask that question. I don't see the point in logging off duty. Once you start the clock even if you are on duty for 10 minutes the clock has to reset for 10 hours...

    Detention Time

You are able to log off-duty time at a shipper provided the following rules are adhered to. B-6. How would "waiting time" at a terminal, plant, or port be logged? "Waiting time" at a terminal, plant, or port may be recorded as off-duty, sleeper berth, or on duty/not driving, depending on...
