I wouldn't mind the 70CPM too much, IF they gave us a 1st out for it, and let us piggyback two loads if possible every now and then. Still, it's cheap frieght, and it's sad to see our rates go DOWN more over the years. These are the van rates we made with Roberts Express back in 1991..

Been getting van load offers from Panther for 70CPM. The dispatcher told me that "we the drivers asked for" discounted runs, just to keep running. News to me. I sure never asked for this. Has anyone out there contacted Panther and requested this?

Pretty simple.. Those who have prepared for these times will survive. Especially in a van. Our long loads have been few and far in between. And now Panther is offering us .70 a mile loads. This business isn't for the feint and the foolish!

Been using a Honda 2000 watt gas generator with a built-in invertor for 2 years now. Bought it for 1000 bucks (In Delaware, no state tax!) It burns around 6-10 hours on a gallon of gas. I built a heavy duty vented wood box with a swing-up door on the front of it, and bolted it to my van's rear...

I'd just go with an 06 used GMC Penske van, but who I am with now, Panther, won't let me put it on. I know their gas mileage sucks, but for 15 or 16 grand, the lower payment might make that manageable. Maybe one of those fiberglass spoilers on the cab roof would add 1 MPG?

Panther recruiter told me they won't put ANY size cube vans on. They have to be a cargo van or Sprinter. But then again, who knows...

I live in Palm City Fl, and have noticed Panther getting more and more loads out of South Fl lately. I got a nice one to Houston, Tx, 2 months ago. Guess I was just lucky. Now, getting back home? Thats another story...
