GMC/Cherolet 6.5 TD Cargo Van Question

There is a fix for the modual failure. When it fails extend the wires and mount it in a place where it has air floor to cool it. I did that to mine and NEVER had a problem. I just went to a local dealership to try and by a 1 ton cargo van. The duramax is not expected out until late in the model...

GMC/Cherolet 6.5 TD Cargo Van Question

I had a 6.5 turbo in my 96.5 GMC 1 ton dually cube van. Got 16 MPG out of it. That was a drive by wire truck however.

Here I am at a Hotel

That was the whole works McBride. I can run other numbers for ya and see what we come up with, you pay a bit more for a Onan, and I can get others. but the Onan is very comon in the RV field and thus, much easier to get fixed. I know of some RV shops that will work on nothing but Onan. 5500...

    Conflict of Interest?

a LOT of lea's have their own trucks. The company I am singed with is a LEA and we have 5 of our own trucks. That is kind of the way it works. I know of 2 others that have their own trucks as well. We kind of work as a team, sharing loads the we can't cover with them and vice versa. Of course...

The Attack of the Towbar People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure bright lights are a wise idea. They would blind someone at night. Slowing reducing speed sounds MUCH safer to me to get some one off your butt. I've also noticed since our new truck got rear ended that a beat up ICC bar does the same for you. Guess they figure if someone else hit you...

    Cargo Van

Having run a cargo van for PII I would should suggest aginst it. It is very hard to spilt .77 a mile. A driver does not really want to run for .46 a mile and spend half, if not more on fuel for the van. The FSC panther collects is sometimes really good (.25 or better) but they do have some...

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

It's not a monthly cost to use idle air, I think it is by the hour or the night. So you only pay for it when you use it.

Here I am at a Hotel

They will.. but it'll cost ya 15,000 bucks, of that the mechanic might see 85 dollars :( I'm working on my own now. if I did it, it's roughly half that, or around 8,500.

    DOT-Legal Sleeper

The company I am with right now has a 2002 FL70 with the "business class" sleeper. The cab looks like a extended cab pickup. It's gotten better lately but I had the DOT guys in that truck with a tape messure more than once fighting with me about the sleeper not being legal. It is legal but all...

is there a good backhaul website for expeditors (s

RE: is there a good backhaul website for expeditor expediteloads.com is a joke. A company I was with subsribed to it for 6 months. never got a good paying expedite load off of it. The one load we did paid 1.35 a mile for a cargo van. All the others where offering less than a buck a mile for a...

Here I am at a Hotel

Heres what can go wrong with them. They have to many parts in to small of an area. In the box you have a diesel engine (2 cylinders in most) a a/c compressor, a a/c condenser, radiator, fan and a generator. All driven by a belt. In the sleeper of the truck you have the controls, the a/c and heat...

    The ProHeat ordeal continues

I'd only use the Onan units. They are the industry standard. Duo-therm makes a roof unit with a heat pump. That will heat better than the strip. The Onan disels come in 5500, 7500 and 9500 watts. I see no need for one bigger than 5500.

I Need Power! What's the Best Way? 120 Volt Type

RE: I Need Power! What's the Best Way? 120 Volt Ty You don't even need a inverter untill you get a laptop. Then you only need a small one. Everything but the laptop comes in a 12 volt model. Yes, they make a 12 or 24 volt microwave ;) it's made by Samsung for mobile appliacations. You don't...

    The ProHeat ordeal continues

Rig-master, proheat, idle buster.. They all have one inharent problem that will never be fixed.. Complexity. What do I mean? Look in the box! There is not enough room in that box for a field mouse. They have a engine, a a/c compressor, a generator, electronics, belts and more.. You need to...

    Hazmat signs

some carriers like Panther won't allow pacarded loads on Cargo-vans. Anything that needs placards goes C unit or goes with someone else I guess. I had them on my van when I started. I was told it would be best to remove them. Now you can see the outlines of where they where :(

    new to this

wooo.. back up a second.. a PII recuiter told you 350-400 a day??? From my experiance that is a understatement. Heck I just did 1900 since last Thusday! Granted I am now in BFE WY and will take my empty move to Kansas in the morning, but if I get out of here early enough I'll bet i score a load...

    canada

The lawyer panther told me to tall. She is in Canada. I guess it did sound like Canada it's self wanted the money. Sorry about that. However, if a country is going to make me pay a lawyer for a permit to haul freight in to their country because I drove off with 10 dollars worth of gas 13 years...

    Buying an expedite truck

Might as well get your B cdl anyways and get a 33,000 pound truck. The extra payload is well worth it. Most companies want drivers who have a class B or better in C and D units. If you and your wife are going to team your going to want a large sleeper, couple that with a 20 foot box and your...
