    Wi-Fi hotspot finder

Thanks Terry, Good link. Love those hotspots especially the free ones lol. Most motels you can snuggle close enough to to get on their network. Otherwise I use Verizon and have a cable to hook my laptop to my phone. My $39.95 a month calling plan has free nights and weekends so I just limit...

    Sprinter / Chev Cost Comparison

Terry, I really appreciate what you are trying to do with this thread and I had a little time this morning so I did a little breaking down of my expenses for last year to try to give a more accurate picture of my cost. I also printed out sections of my Excell spread sheet (sorry but I didn't...

I could have woke up dead!

TWMASTER, Yes you can test it that way but will it be accurate. What I mean is you are "flooding" the detector with C/O so even if it has lost some sensitivity it may work. I put the detector away from the tractor so it has to pick up just a trace of C/O. Just my opinion not scientific. Dieseldoctor

    Sprinter / Chev Cost Comparison

Will put my figures from last year into this dicussion. These are actual figures from my excel program on my laptop. This shows all miles ran not just paid miles. So far all I have seen on this dicussion is guesstimations and assuptions. I'm like Terry. I want to see some actual real time figures...

I could have woke up dead!

I want to echo Terry's words about a C/O detector. In the six years we have been in expediting ours has gone off twice and both times it was because someone in a car had pulled up beside us after we went to sleep and was idling their car. I go as far as every couple of months I unsnap mine and...

    van interior features

jg, Not much of a downside on the porta potty for us. It holds about 5 gallons so we only have to empty it about once a month. We only use it in the middle of the night and for urine unless we have an emergency. It seperates into two parts. The top is the seat and lid and holds some water for...

    van interior features

Check out the following link to see how I equipped our van. We have a small TV (5") and like Terry we don't do any cooking but have an electric cooler for drinks and a porta potty for those cold nights when we don't want to get out and go in a truck stop. We now have a printer, scanner, copier...

Fuel Mileage on E350 diesel 7.3 power Stroke

Hi Guys, I'm an old diesel man but when I try to justify going to a diesel van my pencil and calculator says stay with a gas engine. Lets just look at the fuel aspect of gas versus diesel. Down below you will see part of my computer program for tracking cost. As you can see I have driven 140,811...

    Milelage deduction

Hi Frank, Understand what you are saying about the mileage deduction but don't know whether to risk taking it or not. The night I got the ticket he pulled me over just south of the weight station on I-77 near the Virginia line. He had me go on up to the weight station and come inside. When he...

    Milelage deduction

Have seen some references to being able to use a standard mleage deduction for a van up to 10,000 lbs GVW. The way I read the IRS law is you CANNOT do this if the van is used for hire. (Following statement copied from IRS publication 463 section 4) "You cannot use the standard mileage rate if...

    Dream Van

RE: original link to build-up Hi! I don't know of any rule on sealing off the cargo area. I do know that sometimes we have a load that smells and I wish it was sealed off but that is maybe once a year. One thing I will add is that since we sleep above the load we strap the load down good with...
