    Standard mileage rate?

If I am driving a cargo van for a fleet owner with a 60/40 split agreement and am paying for fuel: Can I, and if so how do I and at what rate, deduct the fuel expense? Thanks.

    Fuel Savings Cards

I figured I'd ask if this UltraOne Expeditor card is still being used by a lot of you for fuel savings? http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/general-expediter-forum/42550-new-ultrone-ta-program-finally-here.html I was gonna tack this post onto that thread, but it didn't deal with my topic...

    Question about fuel surcharge

So if each carrier pays a different amount of FSC, what is it based off of? Is it about the same for each carrier? What would a good rate be now?

    Good Mid-Size Carriers For Beginner

Hi, I was wanting to try expediting in a cv/sprinter under contract with a fleet owner to see if I like it enough to pursue. Does anyone have any recommendations as to reputable carriers I could call to see if any of their fleet owners are hiring? From what I gather, a mid-size carrier...

    Good Co-driver for O/O contract?

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, just want to understand what would be fair and how it's usually done. Using the example above: 20% of 1000 = $200. Linehaul. 20% of $750 = $150. Linehaul minus fsc and tolls. Wouldn't it be most fair for the o/o co-driver to take his $250 but still...

    Good Co-driver for O/O contract?

Hmm, it doesn't seem fair to to subtract the fsc from the linehaul and give me 20% of that total, rather than 20% of the original linehaul amount. Am I missing something here?

Using Hair for a drug test

Shrooms don't show up on the DOT test, which makes it kinda silly, literally. What you do when you're not working shouldn't matter as long as you are sober when working, as Turtle said. I'm not condoning anything, I am just for maximal individual rights. What about that legal weed now, which...

    Good Co-driver for O/O contract?

Thanks Denny, I'm in the process of being hired on with someone who is the o/o and other driver. What is the deal with the fsc, do I want to make sure that my 20% comes from the load total before the fsc is deducted or something? Someone was saying this may make a difference.

    Good Co-driver for O/O contract?

Hi, I've been searching the forums to no avail so far on the following issue: I would be hiring on as a co-driver of the O/O in a straight truck and am wondering what would be a fair contract? I wouldn't be paying fuel, so would it be 20% of loads, what about fsc and the other stuff? Thanks.

Best Freight Cities West of Mississippi?

Thanks Turtle, I just meant leaving the travel trailer at an RV site while expediting in a van or similar, then coming home to it and changing location if one wishes on one's off time. You can rent RV spots pretty cheap by six months or yearly. People find many various jobs while RVing...

Best Freight Cities West of Mississippi?

I was wondering if anyone lives in the Western part of the US and how they deal going home and getting back into service? What are the more decent cities to get loads from out there if you are a solo? I was also thinking about buying a travel trailer to live in and travelling around. It seems...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

I checked and it says I would be completely liable. This is a bigger deal since the driver said the loads may be worth as much as 500k - 1 million dollars, and the medicine corrupts so it can't be untimely delivered for too long. There's no way I could accept this, even if the job payed great...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

Too many for me, it just doesn't seem real tight. It needs to be company ran, it smacks of them trying to get out of stuff, short change the driver, etc. The gray area of liability is my major issue, just think if they tried to put $500k on you lol. I asked the driver about it, he said MDS...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

Yeah I think I'm gonna pass, I can't work out the numbers so where it will be very profitable: it could easily turn out to be as Turtle suggests. There is also an issue as to liability for the cargo, as it may be up to 500k worth of medicine a load. They say I am liable for miss-delivery, but...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

I have a CLass B w/ Hazmat and they require the vehicle to be placarded. I have the 100/300/100 insurance they required, but yeah I do need to contact my insurance to make sure it's kosher, or shop around. So you make .45/mi. in a tractor as a company driver? Yeah that's much better than...
