Just announced..

The ABA ( American Bird Association) has lobbied for speed limiters on commercial aircraft.

The new proposed rule will consider the effects on the airline industry.

The ABA cites environmental and safety issues are the main concerns. The ABA claims that commercial airlines routinely accelerate too fast and maintain top speeds that are in direct conflict with EPA standards for fuel consumption and GHG (Greenhouse Gas Standards). The organization also claims that limiting the speeds will save lives.

While many expediters are already speed limited for going to Canada, this could still affect you. If passed, it could pave the way for more rule proposals including increased trailer lengths and increased weight limits for trailers. Increasing these limits means more capacity for LTL and other carriers which could decrease the amount of loads available for vans and straight trucks.
Whether you are for or against this proposal, please let your opinion be known where it counts.

Really like this blog Greg!

There is an interesting discussion going on about this subject on the Facebook page: Trucking Solutions Group

We are working on writing letters and have links to respond and to read the full document.

There is also discussion on why we should have speed limiters and why we should not.
