The Trump Card...

The bible, a book about a guy who was an antiwar tree hugging socialist who's mother got pregnant buy someone other than her husband. Sounds like a liberal but the conservatives claim him. I'm so confused!

U.S debt is at 19 trillion dollars and rising. U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time
I haven't read many solutions to that....
So at 10 trillion we'd be great again ?
Proportionally if you go into debt to buy a new van that makes you less greater then you were?
Under Reagan the debt nearly tripled and he is much admired and respected...and he tore down a wall... This bozo wants to build one? Lol

That's because there aren't all that many solutions.
1. REDUCE GOVERNMENT SPENDING.
2. Raise taxes.
3. Both 1 and 2.

So at 10 trillion we'd be great again ?
We would be 9 trillion dollars less in debt which would make the country financially stronger.
Proportionally if you go into debt to buy a new van that makes you less greater then you were?
I think you should be able to answer that question from your own personal experience! Would you rather have a $40,000, 5 or 6 year van loan chained to your ankle or be debt free driving an older Sprinter?

The bigger problem as the debt explodes, it takes out a bigger part of the budget to pay for other things. Not far away from a third of money revenues collected will go to service that debt. Could go higher if interest rates rise as they borrow money.

The national debt, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing. It's actually a good thing. It's not at all the same as personal debt, so comparisons to personal or business loans or credit cards is meaningless. The problem with national debt is when it becomes too high, as a percentage of GDP, not as a raw dollar amount. Here's a good image that shows the revenue and spending, in relation to the GDP.

The argument is really whether the government should spend 22% or 18% of GDP. That’s a significant difference, sure, but the way people talk about it you’d think we’re debating between 10% and 90%. $19 trillion is a lot of money, but the GDP is also up, so the percentage isn't, so it's not as bad as people think.

The government basically has four kinds of spending, Defense, Non-Defense, Mandatory (entitlement programs including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security), and Interest on the debt. The CBO projects (and they're almost always spot-on) that Mandatory spending and spending on Interest will climb, but that Defense and Non-Defense discretionary spending will necessarily be squeezed. Here's a good chart that shows that, with the black thick, vertical line showing what it actually is (or was at the end of 2013) and the far right is what CBO projects it to be.

Here's a good article that explains why things aren't as bad and some make it out to be, and why. Lower debt is better than higher debt, but it's not time to worry about things. The tug of war between the spending types needs to continue, though, and IMSHO it's the Mandatory spending that needs the overhaul. But with an aging population, that's not likely to happen.

Thats what I was thinking as well....

so far all Trump has talked about is all the things conservatives want to hear....he must be rolling on the floor laughing at the people how sheep like they are.....just tell them what they want and they'll follow you like lemmings....everything he's promised is just a parrot of the conservative wish list....some originality might be nice...:)

He's not really parroting the conservative wish list. Top of that list is the wish for Trump to get out of the race.

The difference between Trump and all the other candidates is, everyone else says, "You're mad and upset. I hear you, I understand. I will work to solve these problems.

Trump says, "I'm mad and we're gonna fix this mess."

If this was a lemmings situation, Trump would not have won Nevada, which he won by a lot, nor would he be leading the polls in Florida, by a lot if this were lemmings. Not with his position on illegal immigration. I'm actually a little surprised he wasn't trounced in Nevada.

at the beginning of all this I thought he was doing it just to embarass the main line GOP to get off their behinds and do something...and he'd eventually turn the keys to the cars over to the next best candidate...I think he was warming up to Cruz....
