This post of Looking Both Ways asks FMCSA to look both ways before issuing a pending ruling that could give life to a new Safety Fitness Determination or SFD. SFD is that rating bestowed onto motor carriers – Satisfactory, Conditional or Unsatisfactory. Under the proposed rule there will just one rating issued to Motor Carriers - a rating of "Unfit". Those carriers without a rating will be assumed to be "safe". How will a new SFD affect drivers and carriers? Read on - you'll get educated and probably want a seat on the bandwagon.
