Fed Ex CC what a mistake

I have been with Fed Ex CC as a solo driver for just under a year and have had good months and more bad then good. They can not keep my truck moving and making money. I am sitting 3-4 days a week waiting. they keep leasing on new trucks every week but don't seem to give a crap about the drivers out here. I have looked into other companies but was asked to hold off by my fleet specialist and I burnt the bridges with 4 other companies because I didn't want to jump ship. but now I am thinking I made a huge mistake. They keep stacking trucks up in express centers and knowing that they cant get them out of there. but the only offers they are sending out are loads that bring you to areas that you have to deadhead out of. or the offers are so low that you cant make any money. It must be nice to be spoon fed loads.

Solo? FDCC is terrible for solos. Ever consider a team mate?
I would if it was my girlfriend or wife. the truck is a small area to live in when your on the road for 4 to 5 weeks at a time and being the owner I do not want to add the expense of insurance and comp needed by NY.

It would be equally fair and good business practice to stop spoon feeding loads to their favorite trucks. I can only wonder how much I would have to kick back to get on the preferred list.

I have 6 trucks on with fedex now. I'm not sure I know what you mean by spoon feeding loads. The biggest hurdle your going to have is being solo. That's huge. I understand not wanting to be a team, but if that's the case I'd find a better carrier to run for. You'll go broke at FDCC running solo.

yea well that is already happening. I am posting my truck for sale and going back overseas contracting as soon as I sell it

Then that sounds like a recruiting problem. If they can only keep teams busy, then they should be aiming to get only teams.

Our fleet owner doesn't hire solo's for straight trucks unless they're willing to team. We have NO solo's in straight trucks.

The rant over sitting too much says you didn't know what you were doing when you chose FedEx, because it's pretty well known that they don't utilize solos as much as teams.
The comment to Dynamite says you don't know much about EO, either, lol.
It's what you don't know that can hurt you, you know?
I'm wondering how you "burnt the bridges" with 4 other companies, so badly that you need to sell the truck, rather than ask any of them for reconsideration?

I am offended that the OP believes that solos are spoon fed. I can attest that notion is the furthest thing from the truth.

He said 'spoonfeeding their favorite trucks." This isn't a new complaint, either, as several others have said that loads are offered to FedEx owned trucks ahead of independent owners. True or not, it was their perception, and at least 2 good teams have left because of it.
If they were spoonfeeding solo trucks, the OP'd be happy, lol.

Solo drivers can not only survive, they can be a tremendous asset to a carrier. Owners need to temper there expectations a little bit and understand every run isn't going to be a home run buy you can make an OK living hitting the ball around the park. Set revenue goals that are weekly and monthly that are modest, not over the top and can be attainable.

An owners success is driven by the owner and the way he manages his company, not the way the carrier manages the owner.

Just to clarify, fedex doesn't own trucks. They have preferential treatment to the trucks hauling FCR fedex owned trailers when they started the FCR program but after it was brought up that it may be in violation of everyone's lease they dropped it and no longer give that preferable treatment to trucks hauling FCR trailers. They never hid this. Just like they gave preference to contractors that accepted all loads but ended that program as well.

Now, perception is a beast and once your view of a company has changed to a dark place it is hard to see otherwise.
