Here is one more observation. Mass is the first state whose rest area has 2 ply quilted toilet paper that I have "stopped" in.

What I hate about ma. rest areas is they love to install the spritz ing aroma canisters right above the urinals and they always spray at the wrong times right ontop of your head!!!

Turned out to be nothing more than a rear U-joint. I kinda suspected as much, but this was my first experience with a bad U-joint, so I couldn't be sure. Still waiting for next week to go out on the road; tonight I have the last of 3 diabetic ed classes to attend, and I see my podiatrist on Thursday. It's also time to start preparing for winter.
