Things I have experienced over the years....

The Honda doe not like the cold....like -30 to -40.....the thinner the oil the better...that little engine just can't maintain enough heat to pump the thickened oil to the head and the auto shutoff kicks in...low oil..

When you do your oil change there is a fuel line that runs down and outside the unit that has a type of screwdriver type set screw...run the gen and open this and the gas will run down and FLUSH out any dirt in the carb cup...

also ethanol fuel is GOOD for them.....it keeps the water aka condensation from building up.....If you open the carb cup and you see tiny bubbles, that is water!

Try to keep a straight line pull of the start cord....do not let it rub against the side.....if the Honda has 1 design flaw this is it....the recoil unit doesn't line up with the hole....its offset.....if you are right handed there is a good chance you are probably standing to the left of the unit and pulling toward you.....don't! ..... instead pull toward the front of the unit to help straighten the line and avoid the rub as much as possible....
