Like two kids in a candy store
We landed in Ontario CA Friday afternoon only to find that our friends Brian and Cindy (Kini Lu) wern't far behind.
After and nice evening of conversation in the lawn chairs, and a good nights sleep, Saturday morning greeted Cindy and I with a girls day out at Ontario Mills.
We started our day with a manicure and pedicure and followed with some serious shopping. Shoes, perfume, gifts for the grandkids and pj's for us concluded day one.
Then the guys met us for dinner a nice time at Dave and Buster's where the Claw was generous enough to give us two wins.
Being absolutely beat we headed for the not so short walk back to the TA. But then we spied a parked limo. Cindy with all her guts walked up to the window and asked him for a ride and low and behold he gave us one! What a perfect ending to a great day! Not to mention the stares we got at the TA. We laughed when we thought what the truckers thought might be in that limo.
Another nights rest and another day at the Mills to those undecided purchases. This is where the difference shows between Cindy and I. Tod and I made our major purchase new phones with more minutes and endless texting. Cindy and Brian ended their weekend with a new diamond ring for Cindy.
One's a little serious and the other is a little nuts but together we make great friends.

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
Sounds like a great time!
Haven't been to Ontario Mills in awhile but was the 1st time I introduced Cyn to the In and Out burger (not very romantic but they have a killer burger and Cyn loves her burgers)...
I didn't realize there was a Dave and Busters at the Mills but like I said it's been awhile..
Funny as though the T/As there are cess pools I have a lot of fun memories in that area.
Did they reopen the Vans skate park in the mall??
Lotta great talent used to hang there.

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
I didn't see a skate park but then again, there is so much to see and do there. The place is huge. The Dave and Buster's is down by The Rainforest Cafe.
If the weather is nice, it's not a bad walk over to the mall from the TA. If you can get a cab, it's only $5, but most cabs won't make the trip for a $5 fare. Cindy and I lucked out because it was early in the orning but the guys who came over around 7 had to wait almost an hour.
In any event, it's worth whatever you have to go through for a decent meal, Olive Gardeb, Chevy's, Red Lobster, Fazzolis, In and Out Burger and many more surround the mall.
Oh, and you can park overnight at Sam's but DO NOT park at the mall, they WILL tow you.

Wow does that sound like a really fun day! Glad you guys got to do that and this is a great example of why our "jobs" are so darn much fun. You just never know when days like this will come about. Good for you two.

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
Isn't that Mall the greatest!!
When Jim was talking with Cindy over the weekend and she said that they went there, I told Jim to tell her I was jealous!
My best friend and her husband (they live in the area) took us there and we had a blast playing around in Dave and Buster's. And I think the Rain Forest Cafe is such a neat place to eat. When we were there, we sat in the back by the waterfall.
I don't think a lot of the driver's realize what a great place that is and we try and let everyone know, that we talk with. It is certainly a great place to spend the day - instead of those nasty truck stops.

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
Arlene, if we are ever laid over in the LA area....it's a date. We love Dave and Buster's. The only downside is the parking. I spent a small fortune in that mall in two days and they threatened Brian because he took me over there in our truck.
Last time we spent the weekend there, we were taken to the Comedy Club by another driver we know. He rented a Charger and took us to NEWPORT BEACH. WOW....now we know how the other half lives.
I laughed so hard this weekend I don't know if I could do two in a row. We are suppose to spend this coming weekend at Virgina Beach and we have friends there too. Turning out to be a good time everywhere we go. The cookouts at the terminals have been a great success also. Keeps me from getting homesick when I get to be with friends out on the road. I really love this job...and all the perks.

CindiLu: sure hope I run into y'all somewhere soon, I'm way past ready for a night on the town (even if it's in the parking lot), in my "gotohell hat", lol - really sorry I missed the Expo, now! How's the new truck holding up?

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
Cheri, you did miss a good Expo not as exciting as this girl’s day out but still a lot of fun. Amazing how much fun you can have sitting in lawn chairs, in a parking lot making new friends and catching up with old one!

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
Hey Cindy,
It's a date! We won't have to worry about parking since my best friend will come and pick us up. Her and her husband have taken us to some very neat places in that area.
Hope to see you and Brian soon!!

Our new truck is doing great. Was worth the wait. Keep adding our own special touches here and there. It will get there as far as the comforts in the sleeper. With fuel so high, It is just taking a little longer than we expected. Hope to see ya real soon and maybe even be able to partake in some wine tasting or such. hehehehe

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
But Leeeeo - that's what money is for: to get what you want, right? And women want to look beautiful. (For their men, of course) We could save the money, and look like Atilla the Hun, if it would make you guys feel better, but I don't think it would, somehow. (Unless you got to spend it on chrome, instead) Nah, you'd still want your women to look good, so no whining about what it costs!

Re: Like two kids in a candy store
But Cherrrrrrrriiiiiii, looking good is way more from the inside than the outside. Don't like loads of chrome plastered all over or loads of jewelry and makeup plastered either. I will say though that that Mary Kay stuff is pretty darn good stuff. My sister in law sold it for a while and to help her out my wife had a party or whatever they call it. I was lucky and it was during biking time so I got to leave and ride with my buddy I rode with. When I got home after it was all over my wife looked almost as good with all the makeup as she does with none so I know it was pretty good stuff. Thankfully she still goes without it like she has since college. Anyway, I do love a nice manicure with semi long nails and a nice dinner at Salt Grass but the rest of the list doesn't do much for us. Lucky me.

No lucky wife!
I also feel lucky as Bob hates makeup and he does not much appreciate dresses he just says be who you are. Now how much of that I have trained into him not sure but he is a sport about it.
The girls and I have got him to go once to get a pedicure and manicure (no polish) so he now understands why that is such a highlight for us and how much fun we have being spoiled like that.
