Good ole Thompson..one of the first companies I looked into when I lived in Canada..back when they also had an American division now extinct. They've moved to more truckload with TT's now...
back then the recruiter said GM was about 60 % of their business....
so I said to him...so when GM shuts down 60% of the fleet is sitting?
He replied ,,Oh no..we keep them busy?
Huh?
Jack Berrys van still for sale!! Great price NOW! $20,000....see link to contact

Re: Need current information about Thompson Emergency
Take some proactive measures to check it out for yourself. ie.. hang around and see if you can meet up with any current drivers in their lot or something, go armed with the questions you now know to ask from reading thru EO archives.
I know one person that was completely disillusioned with them, and another who has been there for years and thinks they're fine.
You'll have to get a number of opinions and pick through all the info and weigh it out for yourself, according to your own goals.
Good luck!
Anyone else out there who can shed some light for current operations?jansiemoo, May 19, 2011".. please be careful when assuming things in this industry. Very few things will be a "pleasant" surprise."

Re: Need current information about Thompson Emergency
I worked for em for a bit a few years ago. They got rid of their American fleet, as has been said. You being from Canada could sign on w/ em.
General thoughts are that they're low paying but their dispatch was very good. When I was w/ em I didn't mind the pay cuz a lot of the runs were Michigan to Toronto & then back. Others may have a challenge w/ it though.
All in all I liked em. My issues were more w/ the border agents which Thompson had no control over.

Re: Need current information about Thompson Emergency
DannyD, Thanks for feed back. You are right the rates are not good for expedite, it’s new for me that they have not control (r u mean good relation) with border agents.
