mpg update
I rarely exceed 2500 rpm and usually stay below 2200. I accelerate very gradually. I use the cruise control when possible. My driving style is mpg friendly but not so speedy delivery friendly. Even so, I'm never late absent traffic or other uncontrollable events. That said, I filled up in Carnesville, GA at the J. It was maybe 1/3 mile to get on the interstate. I drove mpg fashion to Richburg, SC. It was 159.2 miles to the delivery. My trip computer said 18.7 mpg. It is withing 1/4 mpg when I do the math. I'll double that to half a mpg error. That still means I was getting 18.2 mpg at least and that's with 2006 pounds of freight loaded. That's on gasoline, not diesel. Good mileage can be achieved if you are willing to drive for it rather than the quickest ETA.

Re: mpg update
Slow and steady is the best idea for us straight truck people too. We got 10.7 on the run coming up from TX to TN. The other BIG plus to driving slow is NOT having to worry about speed. Driving a little UNDER the speed limit eleminates speeding tickets.

Re: mpg update
Those are great numbers Leo! I thought with fuel going up again I would see more slow and steady but it hasn't turned out that way yet.
What tire pressures did you end up settling on?

I have the 4 speed and tires are 62/82 warm. I also now have full synthetic engine oil. I think I'm going to 66/84 warm next time. My hero was the tortoise, not the hare.

I rarely exceed 2500 rpm in my truck also. Actually, I can't exceed 2500 and 3000 is redline

Re: mpg update
I have noticed that the cetane rating at most diesel pumps is 40.But I bought fuel at the Wilco in Wytheville the other night that has a cetane rating of 45.What a difference that made.It ran so much stronger, smoother, and I gained 1.2 mpg more than average, and this was going north on 77,64 west, 35 north with 1,400# in the back.WhenI was ordering my gas pedal assembly I mentioned this to the Ford guy and he said That they recommend using a cetane improver all the time, along with Ford filters only.He told me to go onto You Tube and punch in Ford oil filters and scroll down to Fubar wrong oil filter on a 6.0. It was amazing why it is a good idea to use Ford filters only.

Re: mpg update
Nice, very nice. We did well on our last run as well. The last two fill ups got us 11.5 and 10.88 mpg. That was with a load of almost 1600lbs and running the reefer.
