Cargo Box Update

We got some good news for a change on our new cargo box. The old one was damaged beyond repair in Baton Rouge by hurricane Gustav. We have be fooling around with this since. After many problems and fits and starts we now have a mount date of 22 December at Morgan in Wisconson. It is a 2 day mount. If nothing else goes wrong we will be back in service on 8 Jan. At least we picked a slow time to be down. We are looking forward to the new box and getting back to work. We have been down since late October. The bank accounts are starting to look a bit thin. At least I was able to get A LOT of hunting in this year, no use just sitting around the house. Layoutshooter

Glad you have enjoyed your time off! The new box sounds great and you sure did pick a slow time to be off. Sure hope after the first of the year it picks up and we run out behinds off.

I sure hope we do too!!!!!!!!! We could all use the work. If we don't I do have a lot of meat in the freezer so we won't starve to death. I am not looking forward to the drive to Wis without a box on the truck. It should be a blast. No weight on the drives, maybe ice and snow and bouncing around like a carnival ride. Layoutshooter

I'm glad they're making progress. Is there nowhere closer that could install it? I thought Morgan had locations all over the place. I can identify with the suffering bank account but that trip with your dad sounds far more valuable than what might be in the bank account. Good luck with it.

The time with Dad was worth more than almost anything. Still might have one more chance to take him out later this week. Hope all is going well with the house. It would have to be more of a pain than this is. Layoutshooter

I could have had it shipped here but it would have cost more than me going there. Slower too. I don't know where else they do them. I am going to where they are building the box. With any luck it will be done in one day. Layoutshooter

I hope Morgan has better door seals than the half inch weatherstiripping on Alumibunk boxes.

I see that they have E track but not one down near the floor. I would want one down at pallet level. Is that an option?

Yes, the seals are better on Morgan. It is a reefer box. I went with Morgan for a couple of reasons. They seem, at least in theory, to build a better box than Alumi-Junk does. The place that is doing the body work is a Morgan dealer and they are used to working on Morgan boxes. They have a good working relationship with Morgan. Morgan has done a lot of engineering on this box and Scott's Comercial Truck Service in Toledo has been there to help us every step of the way. They will be working over-time once the box is on to get us back on the road as soon as possible. E-Track placement is an option at Morgan. You can have anything you want. I am having 6 sets of E-Track put in, including one on the floor. I have changed the scuff plate to fit the E-track placement. Morgan has been good so far doing whatever it took to make the box meet my specs. It has not been easy since we were replacing an Alumi-Junk box. We feel we have a well specked box and it should serve us well. Layoutshooter

Moose, it is a '22ft box. Overall height should be around 13'2". We will get an exact height once the box is on. It is a reefer, with 4" of insulation all around. It is specked for extreme TVAL operation. I wish I had a bigger reefer it would have then allowed for less insulation. I have a Carrier 844. I would not have done the truck with that reefer if I had bought it new. If I could I would put a 950 on if I stayed with Carrier. Morgan is working on several exciting inovations on box design and insulation. They asked me not to go into detail for business reasons but take my word for it. If all the things they are working on work out they will have a box that will take over the market. They should have the new stuff ready in time for me to spec a new truck with it in 3 years. That is all I can say on this for now but start watching thier site late next year. It might show up there as soon as that. Layoutshooter

LOL, Slacker is right!!! Other than the lack of income I have enjoyed EVERY minute of it too!!! It has taken a long time but we wanted to insure that the work was done right the first time. We did not want to have to keep going out of service to fix stuff that was not specked right etc. We think we did that, time will tell. next questions :

how heavy will it be ?
in compare to a dry box.
how match will it costs, installed ?
just a rough idea.
are you keeping your LG ?
what kind of warranty do you get ?
when can i taste my first deer ?
