This is not my neck of the wood so to speak ...
yet am wondering ,why am i seeing sprinters with a double wheels on the rear axle ???
can they gross more ?

Yes....9990 GVW so they could be used for sleeper converts...

Yes, they do. The wheel wells aren't wide enough to allow for a 48" skid, so they must be modified to allow for that wide of a skid. A few have raised the floor to be above the top of the wheel wells, but IMHO that's silly since you lose the advantage of the extra height a Sprinter provides, not to mention that by raising the floor you raise the center of gravity making the vehicle far less stable. A dually Sprinter with a raised floor and a tall-ish load rolled over on an exit ramp in Indianapolis just last week. I'm aware of at least two other cases similar, so it's not hard to assume that it's happened more than that.
