bought some last nite and used asphalt backed aluminum tape to attach it to the ceiling. well it fell down in the morning warmth here in roanoake va.


i have thought about screwing it into the ceiling cross members.
suggestions on fastening to the ceiling?

I use 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive

What kind.........the rigid stuff or that bubble wrap stuff? For something easy that thick double stick carper tape would work - its the stuff with a foam centre. If you really want some stick - 3M's VHB tape is the stuff. The use that stuff to bond aircraft panels instead of rivets and I think its the also used to bond between panels on truck bodies - you know the ones that look like they should have rivets but don't?

Liquid Nails. All mine fell the first heat of spring then had liquid nails suggested and it works great.

p51 its the bubble wrap stuff.

interestingly the left side is still up with no sag. i got my overnite bag hanging from the side rail at the roof and that seems to be holding up that side.

the install instruition urges a dead space betwixt the wall and the foil. i thought the looped tape would work in that regard.
thoughts on that? should i get some small wood ribs for the wall surfaces?

I'd pass on the wood strips.

Had the same problem at first.

Use the thin aluminum foil tape from Lowe's.

Split the width of the tape between the Reflectix and the van surface.

Trick: You must then add an extra pieces of tape. Go over the half against the metal of the van and split the distance again so you have double the surface area on the metal. Do the same over the original half covering the Reflectix.

Mine has not moved an inch and I retained the dead air space as indicated by the manufacturer.

Yes, the spray adhesive works, but if you ever need to get to a dome light wire or the bolts holding the QC...just using tape makes that process much eaiser.

PS. The glue stinks too.

my fault for not being clearer.


after the reflectix on the driver side i am thinking of puttin up a wall of 1/2" ply in order to hang some of those red boxes david has and to maybe make shelves for storage.
i was planning to hang the entire wall with reflectix. should i just hang it in the window panels?

that is why i am thinking i need 1x2 furring strips to secure the plywood wall.

i've got the width of the wheelwell to fill with shelves and there is a lot of vertical space going to waste.


well my wife, bless her patience and cunning, got the ceiling up using wrap ties thru the reflextix and the holes in the crossmembers. i was helping the son with suggestions on using por15 and patching holes in the cavalier before his west coast road trip.
