Fatboy,

Thanks for the kind words!

Just look for three orange cones around the van and you'll know it is me.

You can usually find me inside the truck stop, or fast food restaurant, with my laptop.

Make sure to introduce yourself.

Re: Rev's Ride 1

FYI: If anyone's interested. Saw a van similar to Rev's Ride in Holland MI at the Chevy dealer. Didn't stop. Don't know anything about it.

NICE RIDE Dave!!!!!
You'll be easy to recognize from now on, you'll be the one grinning from ear to ear!! Bet your prouder than a pea**** cruising up and down the road in that!! I would be!!!
Good work!

The first time I saw "Touchdown Jesus" on I-75 I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw............but can't imagine how much that cost to build.......... I still think it's pretty cool though. I'll have to see if I can find the pictures we took of it and post them so those that haven't seen it will know what everyone is talking about.

You should start a little contest, "Name the ride"!! lol
With Unicell and Cheverolet, I'd call it a Cellrolet!!

Make sure you post some pics after it's all lettered..........

I think the dirty word filter is pretty funny how it will block letters within a word instead of just looking for the word on its own. And it's not like this word is really a cuss word. What about a rooster or something you do with a gun?

Re: Rev's Ride 1

The Landstar van you saw might have been mine. I can attest to Revs statement about Unicell's help. They are very good to work with. My biggest problem was the Chevy Dealer. They first told me that chevy didn't even make a 10,000 gvw truck. It didn't get much better from there. I ordered mine from the ground up. You can get heated remote mirrors. They are made by VelVac. They cost about $800 installed but I wouldn't have a truck without them. Mine is a 6.0 gas because I didn't want to pay for diesel and carry the extra weight. Sure wish I had known about the AC Unit when I ordered main. Mine is fully insulated with a factory built wall to seperate me from the cargo. I had a remote start put on mine so when I get hot at night I just start the thing and it runs for 20 min and shuts off. Cools things down real good. I also had to fight to get the 50 gal gas tank, but it is well worth the extra cost.

Re: Rev's Ride 1

Thank you Cheri and Broom for the kind words.

Thanks also to late4dinner for the info on his truck.

If American Axle hadn't been on strike I would have ordered power/heated mirrors too. I had them on my regular 08' van. The lady who bought it loves those mirrors.

talked to a landstar driver who had a 15' ac with a 5 ft sleeper. he got 180k miles on his first set of tires with the multiple position rotation. he also gets 12 mpg@70mph.--thought it might have been late4dinner. wasn't.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife at Expo 2008.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of the Aerocell.

Re: Rev's Ride 1

David, did you ever find out what changing to aluminum wheels would do for weight reduction? I've heard that because it's unsprung weight it makes a larger difference than the same amount in sprung weight. One of the more technical guys probably knows what that means. All I know is the wheels look good and in theory should cut some weight too. Also, what size are the tires?

Re: Rev's Ride 1

Leo,

I never got a reply from Alcoa about the rims.

A few drivers have told me that the weight of the both rims are essentially the same.

The tires are: LT 225/75R/16D.

Jack and Gracie,

I never use chemicals on the dash. I wipe it down with one wet microfober cloth and then dry it with another microfiber cloth. If you use any type of cleaner/protectorant, it leaves a reflective sheen that bounces the sunlight right into your face and eyes.

Today's dashboards are made with materials that have an uneven surface "crushed look" to disperse the intensity of bright sunlight. Even the owner's manual suggests a mild detergent cleanser and water to rinse. Chemicals are also going to shorten the life of the material covering the dash.

If you are going to drive team, contact me before you order the Aerocell. I have some advice that may help you with your choices.
