Great Shop for a Rig Master
Auxiliary Power Products - Olathe KS 913-397-6722
We had a really great experience with this company and would highly recommend them. Bob had an idea of what was wrong with our generator and what part we needed. He called this company and talked to the tech who verified what Bob thought was wrong with the generator. They sent the part out over night and we had the part by 10:00 the next day. They called in the afternoon to verify we had the part and also to make sure our generator was working. Bob had installed the part and the Rig Master was back to working perfect.
What I really liked about this company was the fact they where willing to work with Bob on the phone and did not just immediately say bring the Rig Master to us and we will fix it. With the kind of service we received from this company they have a loyal customer in us.

Re: Great Shop for a Rig Master
Just curious, what went wrong? I'm happy with mine so far. I've had 2 bad glow plugs and a bad thermostat. The thermostat was a known issue as they had an update kit for it.

Re: Great Shop for a Rig Master
Just had to replace the radiator on one about 1.5 years old with no more than a couple thousand hours. I'm trying to find out if it's a warranty item or not. Overall they are good units and definitely put out plenty of heat and a/c.

Re: Great Shop for a Rig Master
Glad to know you found a place to help. Our problem with Rig Master service is that so many places do not have parts for the RM so you have to wait days to get a part that might be right and might not. We have had to replace glow plugs, also. We had a seal that had to be replaced once when we noticed oil leaking. Everything has been done under warranty. I can't stress enough, though, continue checking the oil and change it and the filters when it is time. There are two filters (fuel & oil) and they need to be replaced when it is time according to your manual. Other than being unbelievably noisy, we love our Rig Master.
We found a place near St Louis that does excellent work on it and they have parts!!

Re: Great Shop for a Rig Master
We were in Saint Louis trying to find the parts and no one had them! This place in Kansas City specializes in generators so they have a large stock of parts for the newer generators and also the older generators.
We have 3030 hours on our generator and at this time we have replaced the belts twice, we had to replace the glow plug relay, and now the power module that is the brains of the unit. The power module failed due to operator error or the fact that Bob shorted it out trying to tighten a fuse connection.
We did not realize how much we rely on our generator till the system was dead! We do not idle our truck at all. Luckily Bob a few years ago separated the starting batteries from the accessory batteries so we had no worries about shutting the truck off and the batteries being drained. The one concern we did have in the very cold weather was we have always plugged the block heater into the generator so when the generator runs for its own reasons it warms the engine at the same time.

Re: Great Shop for a Rig Master
Make that 3 filters. The air filter gets really dirty in a short amount of time and needs regular changing too.
Mine isn't so noisy in the sleeper. When it was installed they added an elbow and ran the exhaust back so it now exits about a foot in front of the drive tires. I had that done to keep the fumes away from the sleeper when the windows are open. Noise reduction is an added benefit.

Hey Broom, some folks love to wrench, and hate the admin, and some folks can't wrench to save themselves, and love to admin. Can you understand that catchy phrase "cooperate and graduate"? Or, no?

We know the Broompilot and he has a great sense of humor and we enjoy it! He is one that can poke fun at you and you can also poke fun at him!
Dave, I am not sure I understand your question. From what we have been told by other drivers they have been in business a long time and the technician that fixes the rig masters is also flown all over the country to fix problems no one else can fix. It also seems as if they have a large stock of parts.

Ok. RM started a new parts facility somewhere around the KC area, and I didn't know if they were one in the same.
An additional service place that does decent work is Espar in Detroit.
