Sick of getting ripped off for paying with a Credi

QT and Wilco seem to be the only two chains that do not charge a different fee for Credit Card use. Like we are suppost to carry 4-6 weeks worth of cash with us to fuel. We are being taken advantage of by these big guys.

Leo told me about the TRUCKERS ADVANTAGE through OOIDA, if your not a member yet this will save you hundreds a year probably close to a hundred a month if your a hard runner, no more cash vs credit prices at the pump.

I am looking forward to my savings and just a Thanks to Leo for the tip.

RE: Sick of getting ripped off for paying with a C

I know I have posted this before but this is my experience. I always use my Discover card and Frequent Fueler card at the Flying J using the card reader. The pump price shows "Credit Price" or 4 cents more than the cash price. However when I go in and sign the fuel ticket it shows:
Full price
Cash Discount
Rewards Discount

For instance I purchased 29.2 gallons of fuel on Monday at Whiteland, IN.
The credit price was 2.789
My full price was $81.44
My cash discount was $1.17
My Rewards discount was $.29
The total charged to my card was $79.98

Am I just special or does this happen for everyone???

I have a Conoco Mastercard. I get 3% rebate on fuel if the facility has a Conoco sign. A lot of J's are Conoco so I get 3% back. On fuel at $2.80 a gallon that 8.4 cents per gallon. That's better than the cash discount so I use it. I can understand places giving a cash discount when they are paying a hefty premium to the credit card processor. At $2.80 the 4 cents cash discount is less loss to them than the 2-4.5% fee taken from their credit card transactions. I don't like it but I understand it.

I understand it too. It's one more way we get shafted by truckstops. You remember gas stations had cash/credit price? Well, they did away from them cause ppl got sick of paying higher with credit. Now, it appears the stations eat the credit price, but we all know that's bs. They just charge everything credit price.

My point is this. If you (truckstops) have to be anal about credit cards, simply don't accept them. Those of us who use them will find somewhere else to shop. We, as credit card users, are already screwed by the cc companies, so to hell with getting screwed twice! But... you know that ain't gonna happen. Glad they have cash cards! :P

Hawk,
Shop around for a credit card that has no annual fees and that pays you to use it with some form of rewards program. Don't carry over a balance and you will be the screwer not the screwee.

I have a Sears MasterCard. For every dollar I spend I earn a point. Last winter they ran a double points promotion. I pay my entire bill every month. There is no annual fee or interest if the bill is paid in full and on time.

I recently cashed in 25,000 points and got 7 $50 gift certificates (fun tickets). Tuesday I purchased two new Optima yellow tops with my fun tickets. I still have 1 $50 left.
