These are really cool. I saw a review of them on the Science channel the other night. You'd think the shadow of your fingers would cause false readings, but supposedly it figures out what you're doing.

Can a virtual monitor that projects screen images be far off?

They're already here too. They showed one of those...sit's on an eyeglass style frame, flips down in front of your eye... it's a "virtual screen".. you feel like you're looking at a big computer screen, or you will be able to hook your dvd player/tv receiver to it, and watch your "virtual big screen". The idea comes from those big old 'virtual reality' helmets they use for video games.

Pretty amazing stuff. Downside is... you think it's bad following someone who's on their cell phone.. can you imagine how many people will be driving with one eye... and trying to type away on their virtual laser keyboard while looking at the virtual screen projected in front of their other eye?

The sad part, Dreamer, is you are right. There are people out there that would actually try to drive with one eye and claim they are not distracted at all.
