Power Inverter

How safe is to run a space heater with a 6000/3000 power inverter?

RE: Power Inverter

Since most space heaters are 1500 watt max with probably no more than 2500 watt max surge at startup it should do fine on a 6k/3k inverter provided not too many other things are running. I would turn the heater off to run a microwave.

RE: Power Inverter

Be aware tho, most of those heaters draw high amps. If you are running it with engine off, it will drain the battery in a few hours. Be sure to have and isolated battery (or batteries) and an low voltage shut off.

Hours?

Try minutes.

1500 watts (average heater)

That is roughly 13 amps at 115 volta AC.

That is roughly 125 amps at 12 volts (actually it would be less than that, maybe 11.4 volts)
