Re: help
Why would you? You are a 1099 contractor.

Re: help
Is he ?
Typically IRS forms/returns ask either for a Social Security number, or an EIN (Employer Identification Number)
If you are a 1099 contractor either supply your EIN (if you have sought and received one from the IRS), or your SSN, if you don't have an EIN.
If you are a driver, use your SSN.
In either case, you don't need Panthers EIN - that would only be for them to file their taxes.

Re: help
What do you do if the owner you drove for will not send you the 1099s for 2009?
They seem to be holding it hostage? And they are leased to Fedex?
I thought that the IRS requires the forms to be mailed out no loater than January 31st.

Re: help
You can call the IRS to confirm this, you can put on your return that it is estimated 1099 because you didn't receive one. The IRS cares more about the amount first, then the paper work second. They know that they will get their money regardless.
I would also as a pre-caution ask for it in writing, and document the response with dates and times.Greg

Re: help
hI ALL:
Fedex sent all the 1099 out on the 31st of January, which really does not give the Owner the time to get the 1099 to you, but He should already know exactally how much to paid you being the contractor.
If you do not receive the 1099 from you contractor, he could be not reporting it to the IRS as income. You can call them at 1-800-829-1040 and find out exactly what you can do
They will give you a Identification # and there name of the person who you are speaking to. make sure you get all the information that you can to report the non reporting compnay
You cannot blame FEDEX for the Owners shortcommings.
