In answer to question about the standard mileage deduction in a "D" unit, the legal answer is NO, you must take the Actual expenses,
depreciation =, fuel, maintenance, extra oil, tires, repairs, etc.
but I have taken the standard on a straight truck a few times due to the fact that mileage is a larger deduction than actual. but it wil become a red flag for the IRS.
