General software question-posting on two forums

I am just getting ready to get back into the business after being away since the 90's. Will have a D unit. What type of software is everyone using on their notebook that will allow you to keep all records and funnel down to profit-loss statements, and then be usable for tax purposes? Thanks in advance Any good ideas appreciated..... I am getting a notebook with wireless and setting up my computer at home to accept wireless. Will be able to transfer info back and forth. Also, is anybody using the AccessAnywhere type of software so that you can communicate on line with your home computer while you are on the road? I would guess you could download and upload any of the information on either computer to the other and that seems like it would be very helpful. Looking for practical ideas to keep up carefully with info and eventually save time during tax season by not having to go pull all of my receipts out.
Thanks Auburnwad PS Hope this is the right forum for this. Where is the spellchecker on this thing--did I miss.

sORRY NOT GETTING BACK TO YOU SOONER, BUT MY PUTER HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP,

YOU HAVE T FIND A BOOKKEEPING SOFTWARE THAT YOR ARE COMFORTABLE WITH, MOST USE QUICKEN, BUT THERE ARE TRUCKING SOFTWARES OUTTHERE, BUT THEY ARE EXPENSIVE, AROUND $200.00 AND UP AS HIGH AS AS $1000.
YOU CN STILL ENTER EVERYTHING IN QUICKEN, IT JUST DEPENDS HOW YOU SET IT UP
