My concern IS...we can not leave these insurance companies unregulated...and that will take government intervention...

Some say leave the insurance companies completely alone and competition will drive prices down...

Example SD..health insurance will cost you at least double maybe triple what you are paying here..just because of state law regarding not canceling due to a previous condition...

Unregulated? Insurance companies? Not in this country. They are regulated to death, that is just one of the reasons premiums are so high. Insurance companies are regulated both at the state and federal level. They have their reserve cash percentages set by law. They are not allowed to sell across state lines due to laws.

I am not excusing things that they might be doing wrong, BUT, to say that they are not regulated is not correct. They are heavily regulated.

The studies can and in this case are made to have a specific outcome and the bottom line comes down to it is better not to advertise than to have patients diagnosing themselves through these ads.

Francer, along with Wilson and Packer can stick it, it is the same old crap with the same old BS phrma is pedeling to the public. This, plus the patent extenstions through post NDA forumlas and indications and revising the pre-approval marketing regulations all play into less competition within the indsutry which is what they want. Advertising doesn't equal the playing field or help the patients.

Sure they are, that is just one of the reasons your cost is so high. Regulation often leads to higher costs. That is because government seldom has a clue about what they are regulating. Let's face it, those in government are not the brightest bulbs in the pack.

ok insurance companies we are stepping back..go wild, no regs and you can compete across state lines....one rule..you must cover the high risk, and we will subsidize the balance of that policy based on income....would be very much cheaper all around?

It won't happen. NO GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZING!!! I pay for my own. I see no reason to pay for others too!! Letting them sell across state lines will help bring down the costs. Then we have to look at the federal regs to see just how much they are helping to drive up the cost. Government is the cause of this problem, it most likely will never be the solution.
Get government out of our lives, let us handle our lives ourselves. They are far too corrupt and power hungry, they cannot be trusted.

so IF a WORKING couple making minimum wage trying to make a life came up a little short on health care payments you wouldn't help out a fellow citizen that was trying ?

Government interference will NOT bring down costs. Just look at Medicare and you have your answer. Government interference is the reason so many are on minimum wages now. In fact, there should be NO minimum wage, government has no business setting wages. Period. Freedom is more important than health care. The more you tax the more you wipe out industry.

It is NOT my responsibility to cover others health care. It is their responsibility. Not the governments, not the company that they work for.

Confine federal spending to what is allowed under OUR Constitution. Then prices and taxes will fall. Keep on this track and our economy will collapse. Socialism breeds bums.

This is a whole different world then the writers of the Constitution ever imagined....

Why is the US the only country that does business the ole way...it does not work....the system failed long ago.

This country will come to another civil war..it is only a metter of time...maybe 50 maybe 100 years down the road. The way things are so sr3wed up now...there is no other solution...

As you even said Joe...this country needs a cleansing from top to bottom....it won't happen thru the voting booth..

No, it is NOT stepping back 100 years. It would be setting things back on track. That civil war might come way sooner if this government take over of our lives called health care reform is passed.

Well Joe you are out voted..even my conservative wife wants some kind of reform...
She happens to think the US is too great and wonderful country and rich in resources to let our ill and hurt go without some kind of care...cut aid to other countries keep the money here and help those Americans struggling...we give to all other countries in need, lets start at home and build a stronger more cohesive country from within...

All those that sent cash and goods to Haiti and Chili...let the money stay here to help each other out to rebuild this country.

I did NOT say that I did not want reform, not once. All I said is that I want the government out of it. 2700 pages is a take over, not reform. You have to start be figuring out why it is so high, they don't know that.
