What Israel can teach us about security
Very good article about our shortcomings of airport security!!
What Israel can teach us about security - thestar.com
a couple quotes:
"There is absolutely no intelligence and threat analysis done in Canada or the United States," Sela said. "Absolutely none."
"Do you know why Israelis are so calm? We have brutal terror attacks on our civilians and still, life in Israel is pretty good. The reason is that people trust their defense forces, their police, their response teams and the security agencies. They know they're doing a good job. You can't say the same thing about Americans and Canadians. They don't trust anybody," Sela said. "But they say, `So far, so good.' Then if something happens, all hell breaks loose and you've spent eight hours in an airport. Which is ridiculous. Not justifiable."Jack Berrys van still for sale!! Re: What Israel can teach us about security
Two things;
The Israels have been here as consultants a lot of times, trying to convince some of the US government officials to listen to them after they were paid. No one listened to them or considered that their methods, which also are being practiced in a lot of Arab countries.
We as a country have been so h*llbent on disclosure of everythign and the need to know that it has seriously damaged the country. We have people coming up with a lot of conspiracies and a lot of damage done by them when they don't get their way. The country is divided, it has been for a while (since the 60's) and it will actually be one of those things that seem to be overlooked too often that is the real root cuase of what happens within the country. It all comes down to the fact in this day and age, most of the country is ilequiped and in some cases very lazy. With what has to be done in this world to remain safe, we don't have to give up our liberties and freedoms in order to be safe but rather start looking at things as they really are in the world.Greg

Re: What Israel can teach us about security
EL Al's airport security it so far over and above anything we have it isn't funny. They don'tut just anyone off the street then give them a 1 week crash course our use people from welfare lines as employees to fill quotas in the airports to take care of security. They have trained "professionals". and LEO's to do the job...they have people that just wonder the airport "watching" and observing whats going on 24/7 not just when they feel the need.
LOL, the israelis have been here and shown us how to close our borders, soo much for that just as we didn't take their advise on that, we ain't goin to listen to them on airport security......and Jack is right, EL AL has never had a hijacking....
Oh one other thing, they do use "Body Scanners" but never on those that they know to be muslim....)and they know if they are by the questioning that passengers get before they reach that point in the boarding area) ...but only on westerners......you know, kind of like "profiling"............There are people in need of help. Charity is one of the nobler human motivations. The act of reaching into one's own pockets to help a fellow man in need is praiseworthy and laudable. Reaching into someone else's pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation.

Liberal fools, an even bigger threat to our nation and sovereignty than Taliban. Forget ethnic purgings, we need a good idealogical purging.

Common sense is only "right wing" if you are too far to the left.
The lesser of two evils is still evil but less evil is preferred to more evil if those are the only two viable options.
