Obama threatens military base closure

Listening to radio news report , tonight, Obama administration has threatened Sen. Nelson (D-Nebraska) with the closure of an Air Force base in Nebraska unless Nelson votes for Obamacare. When did our military bases and service personnel become pawns in domestic politics?

If that is true, and it wouldn't surprise me based on everything else, it shows just what an unfit leader he is.

The administration can't close a military base, Congress has to approve the closure and then go through the process of funding the closure of the base among a lot of other things - like the base employee displacement process which takes over a year to put in place.

The threat may be real, there are others floating out there but by the time this actually happens, if it can at all, the 2010 election will be over with and the dems may be out.

No link. Heard radio report that Rahm Emmanuel delivered veiled threat to Sen Nelson about possible base closure. I went to Omaha.com - The Omaha World-Herald where Nelson's office is now denying any such pressure was applied. I am stating what I heard reported. No confirmation.

Personally I think Nelson is now just covering his butt with the denial.....barry and rahm are not above this type of bs and was is well known, ts the "Chicago" way............

From what I;ve learned of American politics this just ain't an OBama thing....
it is normal operating procedures for ANY administration these days...

If Bush did it too, I'd like to know on which bill(s); cause he just didn't have any luck getting things passed without bipartisan support. That theory just doesn't fly here.

Clinton? Yeah... I could see Hillary putting him up to it. But Obama has the Chicago politics down pat. It wouldn't surprise me if kneecaps or family members were threatened.
