One Man's Trash Is Another Man's ...Health Care?

I am no proponent of nationalized healthcare. I believe healthcare is nothing more than a service we purchase like anything else in free market economy. Having said that, I am sure there are cases where nationalized health care has been successful. Here is one endorsement:

There was a British Politician on Hannietylast night saying that the ISA would be crazy to do what they did with health care in England. He talked about the waiting times and how some people die while waiting for their medical records to be reviewed before they could go to see a specialest. Yea just what i want talk about savings huh let you die before you get to see the dr thats got to save bucks.

Is there any verification of that story? That could be written by anyone anywhere in the world. There certainly must be at least a few incidences where socialism hasn't been a total failure and that may be one of them. Overall I don't believe anyone who claims an overall positive result for socialized medicine. I know too many doctors who assure me it will fail and I certainly believe them over worthless liars like Obama/Pelosi/Reid.

Perhaps ..... however the addition of a qualifier might be appropriate :

There might be, but there's a dark side to the UK's NHS

How does the NHS compare with other systems?

Very well. Success rates in all kinds of operations and the treatment of diseases are as good as those in other western countries. Life expectancy in the UK is pretty much the same too. Though France and Germany have shorter waiting times for non-essential or elective surgery, their systems are more expensive per capita than the NHS. No citizen in a country with a "socialised" system is ever put off from seeking care by the prospect of having to pay a huge bill at the end of treatment or having to sell some of their assets to pay for it.

Re: One Man's Trash Is Another Man's ...Health Care?

I have PERSONAL experience using the British National Health system. It is NOT all that good. I have posted some of our own "horror" stories in this forum in the past. Rent the movie "Calender Girls" for a bit of insight. They don't even have waiting rooms with chairs in many hospitals over there. They STILL have MANY hospitals with LARGE multibed wards. Not the best for controlling cross infections.

The taxes are "Killers" and while lower than when I lived there they still insure "Enforced Laziness". I just does NOT pay to work hard there. The Government takes way too much if you do.

Lastly, the Brits, as most of Europe, has NO concept of real freedom. They are USED to being ruled. They have been ruled for several thosand years and the idea that they can control ANYTHING in their is strange to them. Most there would prefere to be told what to do for health care.

Do NOT fall for ANY stories about how good it works over there. It is NOT all it is cracked up to be.
