Well let me tell you about a neighbor that had a dog that barked 24/7 and when I asked him about the dog he refered to the dog as his guard dog or should I say his defense system, for that dog to be a good defense system it should only bark when it detects a threat not at every little thing or he becomes a failed system.

We are few and far between but strong and well armed.

The Russians move subs in close to test our reaction. They want to see just what we are going to do. The less we do the closer they will move in. They used attack class boats so we WOULD see them. They would NOT learn what they wanted to know IF they were NOT detected.

They are looking for response from ACTIVE sonar, ship movements and our counter by our attack boats. The weaker our response the more likely they are to move in their BOOMERS. The boomers carry the nukes, NOT the attack boats.

I can only hope that we reacted properly, a strong response. I have little confidence that our reaction was what was needed. Just a feeling.
