Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
It will be very interesting to see just how much he had to "Give Away" to accomplish this. Just as he did when HE bought off North Korea when HE was in office, that sure seemed to do A LOT of good, since WE STILL have a problem!! Not to mention that we should NEVER talk with terrorists, it just INCREASES their power and strengthens their resovle. I also think that it is WRONG and out of line for PRIVATE CITIZENS to negociate with forgein powers and terrorists groups. He had NO business going there. His "Wife?" maybe, but NOT him, or Carter, OR ANY PRIVATE Citizen.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
Yes he is!! Just another person with NO LEGAL standing to negociate for the United States. I won't go into his perjury, not a shinning example of a upstanding citizen.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
Kim Jong Il got to have all the camera's on him and have the worlds attention again (and not have it be about his health).
We could have sent Larry the Cable Guy and the result would be the same, someone made Kimmy feel important and all it cost him was to release 2 journalists who were no use to him anyway.
I'm not a Clinton hater (or lover), we are dealing with an irrelevant wing nut dictator. and his fragile little ego.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
His perjury was NOT about what happened in the White House. It does show a distinct lack of character. ANYONE who betrays ONE vow will betray ANY vow!! A cheater cannot be TRUSTED with ANYTHING. His perjury, and why he was disbarred was in, I think, the Jennifer Flowers case. He DID commit felony perjury and HAD the Senate had ANY stones would have been convicted. In my world CHARACTER COUNTS!! He has NONE!! He proved that by LYING not ONLY in court BUT directly to the American People.
By the way, it IS a REAL Security problem. When I got my clearences I TOO had to answer questions about my fiedelity. Some were VERY personal and ONE I REFUESED to even aswer. I told the interviewer that it was NONE of his business. HE laughed and said that was a GOOD answer. The REASON behind all that was from a counter-intelligence perspective.
IF a person CHEATS on a spouse and LIES about it, that person is VERY open to "attack" by forgein powers. Attack in the form of blackmail. It did happen and still happens. Clintion LIED therefor had something to hide. THAT can lead to a blackmail situation.
Most people do NOT have to live with the knowlege that intell agents and President's have to by the nature of their job. LIVES can and HAVE been lost and will continue to be lost in the future BECAUSE people who lack character are NOT able to control themselfs.
THAT is why it IS important now, was back then, and will always continue to be so.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
not sure how it is unnanounced when it was on the news he was going there to seek their release. The Korean leader had already said he wanted to speak with a powerful figure abut the captives. So he was simply duped into giving them up. We send someone no longer in power kim thinks he got what he wanted and two Americans are free.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
I am happy that those people are free, it is the long term BIG picture. What we DON"T know is what he was "authorised" to offer behind the scenes. That IS a problem when dealing with terrorists and "rouge" States. Clinton has a "history" and NOT a good one with the North Koreans. He "bought" them off with a "deal" that spent US tax dollars on oil for North Korea to use to make electricity instead of them developing a nuke program. That DID NOT work and we are STILL faced with a VERY serious threat. They ALREADY, even with those rather weak nuke weapons and their SHORT range missiles, have a capability to reek havic on this country. ONE nuke, ONE missle, launched from anywhere near the US, to an altitude of 200 miles, explode that nuke over the geographical center of the US and it will wipe out MOST of our electrical grid and possibly wipe out most of our computer and communcation systems. It is KNOWN as an EMP (electro-magnegic-pluse) attack. It CAN becaused by natural processes like heavy solar flare activity OR by the way desribed above. Our lack of taking this seriously has GIVEN a KNOWN enemy a REAL weapon they they KNOW how to use and have the capibility TO use against us. WAY TO GO!!
The EMP problem has been known about since the very early 1900's. I think it was in 1912 that a massive solar flare cause such an EMP pulse that some telegraph wires caught fire in Italy. We did a LOT of work on the problem at the Agency but NO Adminstration took it seriously and NO adminstration has taken KNOWN steps to "harden" our electrical grid against this danger. We entered an increased solar flare period roughly 2 years ago and that SHOULD peak in late 2012 or early 2013. ONE big flare could do us in. SO could that ONE nuke that North Korea ALREADY has!!
Things are NEVER as simple as the news makes it out to be.

Re: My man Bill gets journalists pardoned
1 - as a private citizen, he surely had to ask permission to go there, and then asked the North Koreans permission to get in.
2 - as a private citizen, he is equal to any one of us - period
3 - this was carefully stage for;
a) maximum political exposure for Kim
b) a photo op to upstage Hillary
4 - if he wanted to actually do some good, he should have looked into the many US citizens who have been kidnapped throughout the world, many we don't hear about. He could have book himself a flight to Mexico City and worked there for a lot less than what was spent on this trip
5 - I say let these two rot in NK jail, they knew what they were doing and again it is because they are "Journalist" is because of the special treatment form our state department and others
6 - I wonder who paid for it? I think it was you and I so that means he represented us, the United StatesGreg
