Now most polictical pundents say that barry hasn't written anything in his life and none of his legislation has been written by him either...he has let "nancy and harry" and the rest of the dems read all that is being dumped on us and he is telling his "people" that these are his bills and he is working on them and oushing them hard..welllll...he had a tele-conference with the bigger BLOGS writers that are ion his side and he wants them to flood the net to help him get healthcare through..(wait, aren't blogs and bloggers just a bunch of garbage?!? i guess the barry see's them as pretty useful

With the public’s trust in his handling of health care tanking (50%-44% of Americans disapprove), the White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.

During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)

This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.

We are familiar with the passage IBD sites, and as we wrote last week, the House bill does not outright outlaw private individual health insurance, but it does effectively regulate it out of existence. The House bill does allow private insurance to be sold, but only “Exchange-participating health benefits plans.” In order to qualify as an “Exchange-participating health benefits plan,” all health insurance plans must conform to a slew of new regulations, including community rating and guaranteed issue. These will all send the cost of private individual health insurance skyrocketing. Furthermore, all these new regulations would not apply just to individual insurance plans, but to all insurance plans. So the House bill will also drive up the cost of your existing employer coverage as well. Until, of course, it becomes so expensive that your company makes the perfectly economical decision to dump you into the government plan.

President Obama may not care to study how many people will lose their current health insurance if his plan becomes law, but like most Americans, we do. That is why we partnered with the Lewin Group to study how many Americans would be forced into the government “option” under the House health plan. Here is what we found:

Approximately 103 million people would be covered under the new public plan and, as a consequence, about 83.4 million people would lose their private insurance. This would represent a 48.4 percent reduction in the number of people with private coverage.

About 88.1 million workers would see their current private, employer-sponsored health plan go away and would be shifted to the public plan.

Yearly premiums for the typical American with private coverage could go up by as much as $460 per privately-insured person, as a result of increased cost-shifting stemming from a public plan modeled on Medicare.

It is truly frightening that the President of the United States is pressuring Congress in an all-out media blitz to pass legislation that he flatly admits he has not read and is not familiar with. President Obama owes it to the American people to stop making promises about what his health plan will or will not do until he has read it, and can properly defend it in public, to his own supporters.

You know this seems to be nitpicking. The president should have to know what is in the bill until it actually gets into the hands of his staff which is when it gets out of committee.

Admitting to it means nothing unless he is saying that when he is signing it. I would say this was the same thing that happened with Bush and the DHS formation legislation, the house and senate had their own versions and until they came out of committee, he had little clue of the details.

On the lighter side of the news. The self-imposed deadline may pass without anything. Seeing that they are trying to create something based on false promises and premises and still can't figure out how to pay for any of it to begin with. I would say those who ask for health care for the people, by the government may end up in a corner of a hospital because of rationing. Hope you stock up on your medication because you will be limited to x number of pills for the month.

Those who VOTE on that bill, and every bill, SHOULD be required to READ them. Along with that, the NAMES of EVERYONE who worked on writing this and EVERY bill SHOULD have to be PUBLIC knowlege, as well as WHO they work for, special interest groups they belong too etc etc etc. It IS our money AND our health and it IS STILL OUR country. THis is SAD.

Well see here is the thing, the reps actually reflect their constituents and like Harry Reid and his speed reader of the senate, people are too stupid to understand, they only see the results and what Katie Couric tells them. They should be insulted by some of these tricks but they are not.... do you see that Brittanny is coming to the palace?

I use both private insurance and the VA. I have had fairly good care with the VA. I have even had the same doctor since 2000. I go to the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. They are connected to U of M as many VA hospitals are.

I use the VA because I can get my hearing aids there. My hearing was ruined by my Army and government job. The Agency I worked for is well aware of the hearing problems that the work caused but does NOT take care of us. So much for the Federal Government taking responsibility for their actions. What a joke. At least the Army takes the hearing loss seriously.

You should be glad, some of us don't have that luxury, but I still don't want my the government health care deal. If I didn't have issues that were a must to be treated or I wouldn't go to the V.A.
