Change... you better believe it
Forget the old politics. Forget the rewarding donors with ambassadorships. Forget the long time practice of 30% of ambassadorships being graft/corruption/bribery to get donor money. Obama isn't the old time politician. He's the one who's going to bring us change. He's the white knight. In the case of Doug and Cal and others he's the gleaming/glowing white knight, haloed with purity and perfection. No sir. He's not going to be the usual politician giving away 30% in favoritism. He's Mr. Change, the new man, the new regime. He's trying to give away far more than that. Were it not for the uproar from the career diplomats he probably would have.

There are people in need of help. Charity is one of the nobler human motivations. The act of reaching into one's own pockets to help a fellow man in need is praiseworthy and laudable. Reaching into someone else's pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation.
