Re: Palin bites it,Sanford cries it,Rush highlights it
Why should I give her a second chance?
She doesn't affect my life in the least and shouldn't.
She is an entertainer, a brain dead stupefied entertainer and nothing more. More like a spoiled brat who never was taught the importance of being humble and who actually matters.
Like the movie 'stars' and other film professionals, she lives in a fantasy world and derives her income by entertaining us. Not much talent there when you come down to it, she is like Madonna, the former stripper of flint, who had no talent until the studio fixed her up. Amazing what you can do with electronics today in today's connected world.
The last time I looked, the music industry ranks up there as the most environmentally destructive industry in the world's history just behind the film industry, it produces nothing tangible for the people other than entertainment. Maybe if sensible people get into office, they should be a target for pollution reduction, not the trucking industry. I would like to see the movie and music industry deal with Cap and Trade.Greg

Getting back to Palin, I can't remember when my opinion of someone went so 180 degrees. She's doing the state of Alaska a favor by not living up to what she agreed to do? Puh-leeze! If putting her family in the lime light is somehow part of this, what does she think will happen if see goes after the higher calling? Whatever that is...
The republican spinmeisters would do well to distance themselves from her. She actually said that she's not a quitter, then quit. How do you spin that with any kind of credibility?

Agree with the Star. I liked Palin at first, but then learned a few things that made clear her priorities were more about herself and her family than anyone she's elected and paid to represent. [And I'm not talking about her wardrobe, either.] She looks like another 'me first' politician, and we sure don't need any more of them.

The childish name calling and scurrilous [look it up, ok?] characterizations are the clearest example of rabid FOAM one could ask for - look in the mirror, huh?
I've been looking for such examples [name calling, derogatory labels, etc] from the "other side" and not finding many - but there's an endless supply on the 'right', eh?
RLENT is exactly correct: when you go off into a rant, you may feel better, but the result is nothing good for your credibility. If we can't discuss things as mature adults, how can we hope to get anywhere except further apart?

Tell me more about the legal fees. How much did she spend to defend things that were truly bogus? What's she breaking away from that'll make another political run any different? Will her personal baggage somehow not be there?

Re: Palin bites it,Sanford cries it,Rush highlights it
Actually, about $2 million of State money, and about $600,000 in personal money. The charges were all ethics charges, and all were "technically" bogus because no laws were broken. All of the charges were dismissed by the State Personnel Board, who has the ultimate authority to do so (despite the fact that the members of that Board are appointed by the Governor). Even if the charges had not been dismissed and she had been found guilty of all charges, still no laws would have been broken. So technically, technically, it was all a bogus political tactic by her opposition, and technically, technically, she didn't do anything wrong.
What she did do, however, was bend like crazy many of the ethics policies she herself helped put in place. Most of it was politics as usual, but it was hypocritical just the same, and a little scummy, and that's where my 180 degree turn happened.
It won't be any different. She's already shown that she will bend and skirt the rules if it suits her, and if she takes on a national position, it'll just give her more opportunity to bend and skirt even more rules, juuuust like te rest of 'em.What's she breaking away from that'll make another political run any different?
Oh, it'll be there, and likely more of it. And the more of it there is, the more she can whine about people hammering her for it. The, "Oh, woe is poor, poor, pitiful me," thing wears thin when it comes from someone who should know full well that it's part and parcel of the territory. Will her personal baggage somehow not be there?
That's pretty funny. LOLassure you consonants guy,

Re: Palin bites it,Sanford cries it,Rush highlights it
She jumps into the full contact sport of national politics and cries foul when she's checked into the boards. I don't see how her rambling announcement will be anything other than political suicide. Unless her intention is to just leave politics, but why wouldn't she have just said that's what she's doing? It's just a very bizarre situation.
