See how a couple words switched around can make your comment sound totally crazy? Why would you punish the law abiding citizens for what a couple of hoodlums do? And just because you think sports teams are unnecessary, so what? Isn't that free enterprise?
Simple solution... warn the ppl of the area BEFORE the game, that any rioters will be shot on site... then follow thru.

Re: Contrast...
The teams could still play and the vendors still sell programs, just don't let that team play past the quarterfinals if they make the playoffs at all. Pro sports are not Constitutionally protected. I have no problem with a shoot on sight order for looters. I'd say deputize every business owner and make them the law in their own store with authority to shoot anyone entering and widely publicize that.

Last I checked, pro sports are not government or public property, which makes them private property, which is what the Constitution is all about. So you bet your Texan tushie they're constitutionally protected!

Speaking of Cleveland( I try not to) what party affiliation were the Who fans that stomped other fans to death? Probably "independents". Or as we now call them ,Republicans with blind folds on (as in I voted against him).LOL

BUT... most venues that are used by professional sports are publicly owned and operated.
The real problem is more people care about sports than they do anything else, and it is just like Rome.

Can you be more specific? I'm not finding anything. Or are you just making this up to look smart?

Yes, but there aren't any FEDERAL venues. If a city deemed it necessary to close a venue, it would just lose the revenue, and the franchise would move to a different city. It's still free enterprise, but with the local governments as a partner.

That's when they lifted the ban. The trampling happened Dec 3, 1979.

Texas Judge: Why did you shoot that man?
Defendant: He needed killin'. He was a lootin' and a plunderin'
Judge: Good 'nuff. Case dismissed
There ya go. I'm for that.

Re: Contrast...
I stand corrected twice, hell I knew that ,I was just testing you.By the way,I WAS at Altamont, unfortuantly, and it remains the most nightmarish thing and place I've ever done and been.Everytime I drive through the Altamont Pass it all comes back.
They just closed the old race track a few months ago. The Altamont Speedway is the official name of the "venue".May it rest in peace.
