Real Black MEN

OK TalCal101, these are REAL black men. I admire everything they stand for. They had it way worse than anyone today and STILL stood tall!!! Obama taint fit to tie thier shoes!!!! All men can learn from these. These are just a few I took time to look up. I can't look up the thousands of black firefighters, both paid and voluteer. The black smokejumpers. The black medics who risked thier lives for wounded combat soldiers. The black intell officers that I spent an entire 20 year career with. Many of whom died early deaths do to the stress of the work. So, in order to be a REAL man, white or black, you have to have been in the military, or a firefighter, or a medic that cares for soldiers? Interesting.

Re: Real Black MEN

No, I did not explain it as well as I thought. They just are easy to look up. I am trying to point out the difference between a whiny little Obama and these "MEN" who no matter how bad they were treated by others they still stood up and "showed" those people what they were made of. Obama blames others, wants to control others and is very negitve about everything. I just admire MEN who do, not talk. I would give others examples if they were on the web. Like the black guy I met down by the river one day. He was in his 60's and working hard, a junk man. He raised his family on his junk business. He took no help from anyone and did not whine about not getting help or freee this or free that. He started his junk business with a push cart and at that time had four large (5 ton) trucks and several employees. Osama Omama could never do that. Too whimpy in my opinion. Layoutshooter

Re: Real Black MEN

Maybe another way to put it. I have only been around men that "walk the walk" In other words they do not talk about doing. I can't find anything Osama Obama has ever done other than talk. I also believe that you are who you hang with. He hangs with malcontents, felons and liars. What does that make him? Layoutshooter

Re: Real Black MEN

I served with many good African American men and known many outside of the service. One that I served with comes to mind. He was from the southside of Chicago. Evidently it wasn't that great of a neighborhood. His father ran out on his mother and him when he was a baby. His mother re-married when he was a young teen and had a set of twins his senior year in high school. His step dad then ran off. He received an acedemic scholarship to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During his sophmore year of college his mother became ill with cancer. He was a big college boy at the time. He had a 3.0 gpa, he was a member of a fraternity, and had a girlfriend. Needless to say he was enjoying life. When his mother's condition worsened he quit college and joined the Marines. He adopted the twins, and his mother's parents took care of them. Since they were legally his kids he was able to purchase medical insurance for the twins. After he had been in about a year his mother passed. When we got paid he would take his whole pay check out of the bank and keep about 100 bucks to last him 2 weeks and the rest he sent to his grandparents in a money order. He also went to the pool halls just about every night where he would hussle money off of people that wanted to bet and he'd send it to Chicago. He got his grandmother a debit card off of his checking account so she could get money out the ATM while he was in Iraq. Well he never made it home from Iraq. Everytime I hear that country music song and it says "It looks like I only got a one way ticket over here" I think of him amongst others. He was a man.

Evidently Obama has a brother in Africa right know that lives in a mud hut and his income is something like 12 bucks a month. Obama is no man. Let him be like my friend.

Re: Real Black MEN

Well I don't know about this... I know what layover is saying but sometimes pointing out the differences is the problem. Like it is not a black or white thing, but a people thing.

What I mean is that Tallcal is coming from a different world, he has seen a lot of what I have seen and I know that sometimes there is no convergence with people to know what it is all about. UNlike him, I don't critisize people becuase they use some 'terms' that are supposed to be offensive, I do get that it is human nature to use words to convey feelings thoughts and something called ideas. But some insistent that we all know what it is like to be someone else, what our fellow citizens must be going through and so on, THAT is all hidden socialism at it's best. I can't agree with someone who says "you don't know what it is like to be FILL IN THE BLANK, so you can't understand me". That quote is a cop out, because I am not supposed to understand what it is like to be FILL IN THE BLANK in this country as much as I am not supposed to understand what it is like to be an Indian in England or a white guy in SA or what ever, I can only get what it means to be me.

See the real problem here, in this country is that we have provded means for people to get moving in life at the expense of others but at the same time put these people in boxes where they can't get out. This mess, this duality of the american world has been created by the need to eliminate poverty and to bring a forced eqaulity to the masses, and which has failed. We do not have proverty in this country, we have rich poor when it is scalled to the world standard but we think we need to do more, throw more money at the problems when we actually need to step back and figure out how to provide prosperity to the country first.

At the same time we now have a serious inequality, not just among the races but more importantly across gender lines. We have brought equality to the country among the races, more to the balance on the minority's end but in reality we have made more steps backwards because of our 'need' to put a black man in the WH, when in reality we should not put anyone of race ever in the WH but a leader - black, white or green... a leader.

Now we have a real VP candidate, a real person and she is actually breaking the inequality that no other women has been able to really do. Sure under the last few repiublican administrations (amazing starting with Nixon), there have been more things done for gender equality than any democrat could ever dream of - actions speak louder than legistlation. We have had one other major party female VP candidate who for all intent and purpose did a lot but recently was forgotten and cast aside when she brought up facts on race and the election. She has been ripped apart, just like this VP candidate for speaking her mind, which is what we are supposed to do, right?

This republican VP candidate has actually made more history than has Obama, she has moved the gender issues forward, past the rhetoric of the past and now represents over 50% of the population, which when you look at it, the Obama (male) represents less than 6% of the population, he has had the right to vote since the 19th century and has been able to do more than much of the female population in the last 60 years. It was right after the War between the States that we elected the first Black Senator (and the first to be elected to congress) - Hiram Rhodes Revels, but it wasn't until 1917 that we elected the first women house member - Jeanette Rankin (who also voted against going to war in both world wars),I would say this is reason enough to cheer on the historical move form the republican party, but again only the really ignorant can't see the difference, just believe that Obama is the only history being made.

The other fact is that I do think Palin is a very good choice for one reason, she didn't use the system to get a college degree and worked as a mother, wife and business owner doing more than Obama and his wife have done.

History has shown that the people who actually do instead of say are leaders.

Re: Real Black MEN

That is the VERY reason I don't like the Obama/Biden ticket. They are talkers not doers. McCain/Pawlin is a stark opposite of the Dems ticket. They both have done and continue to do. In fact, the McCain/Pawlin ticket is the only one with a candidate with any qualifications for the job of president, according to the consititution. That is Sarah Pawlin. She is the ONLY one of the 4 with executive experiance. McCain has military experiance and Pawlin has expericance as Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard. Shoot, good bet that Obama/Biden don't even know what end of a gun a round comes out of and if they do it's only book knowlege. Layoutshooter

Re: Real Black MEN

Greg, the ONLY reason I picked out all those black men was in response to the very thinly vailed assertion by TalCal101 that I was a racist because I call Obama a "boy". I call Barrack Obama a "boy" because HE is one. Not because he is black. We are all in the same boat. What is good for one group is good for all, if things were run right. The best thing our government could do is pass one law making it illegal to pass any law for 2 years. Then start repealing as many Federal Laws as possible. Then cut the size of government in half. When all that is done. Go on vacation, for 4-5 years. Layoutshooter

According to the Constitution? Really?

C'mon, man, you're gonna have to get off this military elitism kick. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and a few others have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that being a Governor and Commander in Chief of a State's National Guard is not the same as executive experience with respect to being the President. Twelve presidents have had no military experience whatsoever, And in the case of Palin, during her tenure as Governor she has yet to make a single decision involving the state's National Guard. Not one. Not one. Break out the fingers and count 'em up. Not one.

As for the Constitutional requirements for qualifictions to be president... No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

That's it. Those are the qualifications, according to he Constitution. Having had prior executive or military experience isn't mentioned, least not as far as I can tell.

Ulysses S. Grant was a brilliant military General. He was also inept and utterly pathetic as President, his administration rife with corruption and scandal.

Abraham Lincoln spent a grand total of two months in the Illinois Militia during the time of the Black Hawk War, but never saw any action (never saw any actual military training, actually), yet he managed to do OK with his Commander in Chief decsions later in life.

Franklin D Roosevelt never wore a uniform, never had any military experience whatsoever, and, if I remember my history correctly, he did kind of OK with the military during a little skirmish called World War II.

There are many examples I could site showing lots of military experience that did not transfer well at all to the presidency, same as those with little or no experience who managed to do extraordinarily well with military decisions during times of war. Harding and Wilson during WWI is a good example. Ironically, it has been presidents with little or no military experience who have led this country through the worst of times.

Having said all that, do not, I repeat, do not mistake this as support for Obama. It's not. He's an opportunist little weasle in a Zoot suit who has contradicted himself so many times when talking about military matters that I have to wonder if he's even seen a chess board.
