They want 2 people in a Truck vice just one to possibly get that one extra run squeezed out maybe to incerease there bottom line. But in reality Its the driver thats suffers. Well as a Michigan resident, I would rather see this;

Do away with the property tax.

Raise the sales tax to 8 cents.

Then do away with income and business tax.

Raise the sales tax to 10 cents.

Doing away with the property tax will help the economy, getting people back into this state to buy property - but wait until I buy mine....

Doing away with the income and business tax will add even more incentive to have people move and start businesses in the state.....

BUT it will never happen.......

Because....

.....we have stupid (not ignorant, not dumb but STUPID) people living in the state and voting for people who are ruining the state - Granholm is one who should never have been reelected and it looks like you can lie under oath and get away with it in the city of Detroit. Not to mention that we the people have yet understood the need to vote in others for seats that have been held for years (fo example Dingell who by the way wants to see fuel taxes go up even though it would hurt his district)

....we have a really strong teachers union which has driven property taxes up and we can't get by them just to fire some teachers in the state.

So it would be great to have these two things happen, the state would grow and we would be back on track instead of in the scrap yard.

Oh the other thing, we can also claim the great lakes as an enterprise zone and drill for oil, there is enough under the water to let exploration happen.

Good point. We hear plenty of blame being laid at the White House steps for economic issues. Not that I have always agreed with the President. But, since Congress has more power and the Dems have controlled both the House and the Senate for the last 2 years... There is prolly enough blame to go around for everybody.

The thing that really gets me is all the peeps being led along the change path. Its almost like they assume changing something automatically means there will be an improvement.

Well here are two scary things....

The same campaign was done with Carter in '76, he went around saying the same thing - we need change from the what has led us to this point which resulted in Regan.

Several are comparing Obama to RFK. I am not a fan of RFK, I don't fall into the trap that he was all that great, he did things while he was AG that are far worst than Bush ever thought of BUT the point is he did nothing as a senator and like Obama has zero experience or brings any real assets to the country.

Perhaps we need a president that does more than dance with the Saudi Prince. Perhaps we need a president that is not afraid to talk to him. Perhaps we need a president that is not lining his pockets with the profits of the oil companies. Think!
