Hey,remember that big orange bridge I wanted to sell you shares in?Well,now I have some shopping mall land for sale in the middle of alligator ally in central Florida.
But first,lets examine the new champion of the working class in Michigan.
What Mitt does not speak about while championing the now PC topic of the economy,specifically rust belt workers,is excatly how did he turn around all those corporations and become a rich guy?
A closer look will tell a story.First,he cleaned house on workers,unions and benefits.The UAW will be on his side for this,no doubt.
His next bright idea was to move to an off shore production scheme as soon as possible,thus reducing costs and bottom line.Not just a few times,but time and time again.It became his blue print.He was responsible for tens of thousands working men and women losing their jobs and benefits to"turn"large corporations around.He and his investment banker buddies become wealthy polotico's.
It is the biggest crock of c*** since ronnie raygun tried to convince us it was ok for the CIA to be in the cocaine and weapons to our enemies business as long as the money was going to the Contras.Whats the problem?Just a frew drugs and guns?Ollie baby,oh yea!
Mitt likes to bring up ronnie in his speech's,and the similarities are frieghtningly on target.Just what we need,another raygun at the helm!!I guess the workers in Michigan are so despareate that,like the bozo who was elected twice in the last 8 years,no one wants to look behind the curtain to see who this well dressed man(talk about a flip flopper)for who he really is.No friend to the working man,thats for certain,and worse yet,a man with no moral compass(not sure about the Morman thing),but it scares me.He feels his strenghth for leading our country lies in his ability to make bundles for bankers and himself.
I just wish Americans would wake up and turn off the TV ads and do some reading and research before being swindled by the big wealthy Republican machine again.
My sense is you can sell Michican because of unemployment,but the rest of the nation smells something ordorus coming from the GOP once again. Ever so stinky,and it won't fly this time.

I haven't made up my mind on any particular candidate. One thing for sure, I don't think Mit Romney is the answer for Detroit. And to be fair, I don't think Hillary is the answer either.

Michigan's loss of jobs has occurred during the leadership, or lack thereof, of Jennifer Granhom; who just happens to be a Democrat.

To add insult to injury, the voters of Michigan re-elected her to office for a second term.

Axiom: "You can lead a person to school, but you can't make them think."

And I see no need to cast dispersions toward a deceased individual, president or otherwise. Moreover, history already recognizes Ronald Reagan as one of America's greatest.

Did he do "everything" correctly?

Well, considering our "nature"...none of us do everything correctly.

I only know of only one president who used the oval office as a setting in which to engage in "perverse" sexual behavior. Hee-haw. Hee-haw.

I also know that Kennedy and Roosevelt both had mistresses. And to which party do they belong? Hee-haw.

You left out Dwight Eisenhower as another man with a faulty moral compass.
President Clinton left his presidency with a higher rating then any President,including raygun, this century.Why? Because he led the nation to prosperity and left W with a balanced budget and a sense that the best was yet to come.He tried to take out Saddam,and knew the danger was great.But alas,a befuddled rich boy cheerleader took over and has singlehandedly undid all Clintons work. and worsened our condition by a factor of at least 10.

If you are personaly offended that a sin occured on Clintons watch then you must be without sin.Funny,I always thought we were all sinners,but redemption was there for those who embraced the Lord as their personal savior.Please straighten this out for me.
Clinton is as much a church going man and Christian as any person on this forum.

Ronald Reagen sprayed poison on me and some of my freinds during a legal war protest in Berkley in 1968.He would have prefered we did not exercise our moral and legal right to protest the blood bath that our country was conducting at the time on a small jungle country on the otherside of the world.It was called nation building,and it was wrong then and wrong today.Sacrificing our young people for the whims of old men,regardless of political affliation,was also as wrong then as it is today.Allowing moral misfits like Ollie North and his band of merrymen to turn our Constitution upside down is about all you have to know about ronnie and his faultering memory.He maybe a hero to you,but not to me.

The Christian hardliners in this country are still Americans,and the fall of so many evangelic leaders to homosexuality (not a sin in my opinion)and other "sins" of the flesh only prove they are human beings,not any better or worse then the rest of us.I did not speak of Hilarys qualifications.All I know is that it is typical of the Republican fat cats to wish to be seen as the friends of the working cl****and Mit's pumped up self image is not backed up by his slash and burn history in business.It does not add up.I have not yet made my mind up either,but the same old thing is NOT what we need,and the American people,all the American people will decide.I mean all the people:Black,yellow,brown,gay,lesbian,Christian Muslam,Catholic,Jewish,and even white men with American flags on their lapels.And most want the same thing: Real change.
By the way,W is now at an all time low:31%
I just hope those who oppose change will be as patient as those of us who did not vote for W should real change come about as a result of the upcoming elections.

You know TallCal I was with you there for a while. I agree with about 90% of what you have written. The part that threw me off the boat was using christen and muslim in the same sentence. I can't agree with that. Don't think there is such a thing. When you want to kill other people because they don't believe in the koran, sorry that ain't no christian. And the gay thing. I believe they will go to hell for that. See I am a southern christian. That just don't fly here.

I won't go into this much because my b.p. isn't down for it but Clinton didn't do nearly as much as you think he did regarding Saddam or any of the others. Look at the Cole, the various embassy bombings etc. and it's clear. Are we all sinners? Yes. Does that mitigate anything for anyone else? No. Opinions aside, the Bible is very clear about what is and isn't sin and it isn't any less so just because in one's personal opinion it isn't a sin.

First thing I want to get this straight with everyone here; Michigan is made up of two parts, the southeast part and the rest of the state. We here in the southeast part have to pander to Detroit, a place where they think that Motown records still exists, where they have this fascination with a dead mayor who destroyed the city and for some odd reason think that there is a reason that the state depends on them. Here in the burbs, we have been dealing with racism, unemployment and ignorance on a scale that is akin to the 1950’s. The rest of the state suffers because of the ignorance, and I actually feel sorry for them and hope that they demand their independence from the state or demand we are sold to Ohio.

Now Romney has some strong ties here and I expected him to win without a problem, but to me is the ignorance of the voters here who voted for McCain, the guy who wants to give the invaders a chance to be our equals. For some reason you all need to look at him as the real indicator of problems because we are truly a ship without a rudder in the ocean of despair.

Now it is true that they reelected Grandholm, but they also are too stupid to see what she has done so far, always blaming other people for the mess the state is in. First it was Engler then it was Milliken then it was GM then it was Bush then it was some guy who didn’t buy the overprice piece of junk car back in ’99 and so on. We have had a few serious scandals, one being the use of Michigan state property that has been leased by the state police for a $1 a year since 1948, her lying about MSU demanding the property back and her ‘friend’ making $25M off of the deal – all of which was the same dealings she did while she worked for Wayne county. Last year we faced a serious debt, which honestly most of the people didn’t care about, and last year we had to hear how the state will shut down because they can’t agree on things. She pushed through tax increases, she is still talking about it in print but now we have a surplus, not much and it wasn’t because of the tax increase. So we have one of the worst governors that any state has had at any time in the last 300 years and the people still believe she can fix things.

So tallcal, hate to break it to you dude but Clinton did not leave a real surplus when he left office, he left a projection. BIG difference there. I do agree that Bush has made a mess of some things, mostly lower interest rates which will kill us soon but I blame the congress, not just republicans but democrats too – they are both at fault for the debt. AND about this ratings thing, if you polled 10 people at your house and asked do you like the president, 7 out of the ten say no and the three remaining said yes, well the approval rating is 30% - get what I am saying here. There are 30 companies doing presidential polling and they are not in line with the people because they are still lost on the issues. There is no real way to show an approval rating outside of your representatives you elect, they are who you depend on with this system. Like the primaries, I think we need to move back to demanding they do their job or we recall them. By the way, FDR left office with a higher rating than Clinton did and so did TR and others, so I would not say that he was the highest this past century.

About the constitution, well you need to look at FDR if you want to see some really bad bad stuff being done to screw the American people. You need to remember that Truman had done a lot of things to circumvent civil liberties to fight communism. You also need to look at Kennedy, especially Robert and his twisting of the laws as AG to go after people. And you need to look at Johnson, who was not really for civil rights, had JE Hoover watching everyone and only pushed through the civil rights bills because he wanted other things to become law. Clinton expanded programs like ECHELON and allowed the AG to do her thing to bring to justice people by a lot of underhanded means. You talk about domestic spying, take a look at Clinton and the Sandy Berger case - here is one of the worst cases of espionage that happened at that level, during a war and the guy walks. He should have been jailed and then executed for the crimes he committed.

As for the plans that these candidates are proposing, only one makes sense – the Fair Tax. All the others are dependent on spending, which we don’t need. We don’t need to bail out the people who have difficulties paying their mortgage, we DO NOT need to lower the interest rate any more but need to raise it and we DO NOT need to add more money to the system – all of it will ruin the country.

I wish you all would spend $40 or $50 to get the following three books and read them –

The Fair Tax by Neal Boortz

The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression by Amity Shlaes

Freakonomics by Steven D Levitt

If you can’t put together a clear picture of where we are coming from, where we are going and how we can get there by reading these three books, I don’t know what to say.

Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds by Charles MacKay

I think you can spend $70 and get all 6 of these books and if you read them, you will be better off.

As for Michigan primaries, I don’t believe Romney will be president, I think it will end up being Clinton. I do not want to see Obama there because he keeps saying he wants change but he is a senator and has not proved himself at all, all the while he can make better change where he is at. I think Rudy maybe done for and Huck needs to push the message of tax change, not reform.

you are sooooo right, they are afraid of the label but the race thing also divides people too in many ways wen it comes up to the public and they forget that.

I listened to MLK the 3rd this morning about the hillary comments and thought, well she is right it was a big step when the stuff became law. Now the issue is we present MLK as a saint and build all these monuments to him and indoctrinate kids to him but forget his message and ideals and most of all forget to teach people what it was all about. We can't forget the message, we can't forget the real fight and the people who worked hard - all the people.

Edwards is just as big a disaster as the others. The good choice, Lieberman, isn't running this time. He's too old, just like McCain is too old. Thompson is the least objectionable, although still not perfect.

Thompson has a good amount of senate experience as well as other experience. He's not ideal but he's the best option in the primaries. On the democratic side, Lieberman isn't too bad, certainly better on his worst day than Edwards, Obama or Clinton on their best day.

He may as well actually stand a chance, but he better pick a running mate that is loaded with foreign policy experience because he has zero.
Then again.....Hillary claims she has 35 years experience.
