Obama to nation: Give me your children.
A controversy is brewing over Obama's request to broadcast a speech to schoolchildren on Sept. 8th.... many outraged parents are planning to keep their children home from school rather than subject them to the Teleprompter-in-Chief. Likewise, many school districts are refusing to carry the broadcast or giving students the means to opt-out.
Seems the biggest concern among parents, teachers and school administrators was a lesson plan designed by the White House wherein Little Johnny and Suzy would be required to complete a homework assignment showing how they can help Obama or how Obama has inspired them.
To Obama, it's all about him... isn't it? The good news is the White House is now backpedaling in a face-saving ploy to water down this public relations fiasco.... it is getting harder and harder for Obama to find a friendly audience.

Re: Obama to nation: Give me your children.
The biggest problem is the lesson plan that children would be required to complete. Making posters etc. about Obama's agenda. It's over the top. Just address the kids and tell them to stay in school and do their homework and don't smoke.

If my kids were still of school age they would be staying home if their school was showing that indoctranation speach.

Re: Obama to nation: Give me your children.
There are LOTS of little "ceasars" running around Washington these days. CZAR is the Russian word for Ceasar. I think we are now up to 33 czars, all who answer ONLY to Obama and can SPEND TAXPAYER MONEY!! Why is it that no one is fighting this? Ever hear of the Constitution? ONLY Congress can spend money, NOT the Executive branch. No congressional oversight of these "Czars", no Senate conformation. WOW!! Talk about a complete take over of our country!! ZIEG HEIL!! Facism is alive and well in the National Socialist Republic of North America!! When will the "ovens" open? I suspect soon. Just after the Senate changes the voting rules to "FORCE" health care. How amazing. AND WE JUST SIT AND TAKE IT!!!

Let us not forget Walter Bagehot's most dead on observation,
The reason why so few good books are written is that so few people who can write know anything.
I always lump spelling in with the writing skills

Re: Obama to nation: Give me your children.
Spelling is ONLY important in the "finished" version of a book or paper. I would always first just "let the thoughts flow" to get my ideas on paper ane THEN clean it up!! IN this forum I am NOT so picky. I just "let 'em rip"!!!! When I do want to get "fancy" I write it in word, copy and paste after I spell check it.

Re: Obama to nation: Give me your children.
Well I noticed that no one mentioned this is not the first time that a president has been told no, it happened with Bush #1 who also wanted to address the children of the nation but many of the schools and parents reacted the same way.
What is wrong with a president addressing school kids? FDR did it, I even think Hoover did it, Truman and even JFK.Greg

Re: Obama to nation: Give me your children.
I have NO problem with Obama adressing school kids IF he was capable of keeping the speech generic and NOT preaching his socialism, he CANNOT do that. THAT is why I would have kept my kids home. They got too much socialist garbage when they were in school as it was. The results of all that socialist teaching over the years is becoming quite evident. Obama is the result of it.
