Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
Thread deleted as this is not an issue for us, plus the first reply to the thread questioned the seriousness of the thread.

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
what goes in the box, stays in the box, till it delivers. i have never gotten cooties from freight in a trailer, 15 feet behind my seat. i have hauled beer, and drugs. and considered on occasion, making an illegal drug run in my personal car, but i doubt ill ever actually do it.
i don't grab hookers and body slam them in the parking lot, i just say no thank you.
our job is moving freight. not digging around in it. but if you dont want to haul gay porn mags, then don't haul them. much like the taxi drivers in st. paul will leave you standing in the cold if you happen to have a bottle of wine from the duty free shop.panther II

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
I'm paid to haul freight, not to make judgments of what other people may or may not do do with the freight I haul. For all I know, the consignee tosses what I deliver to them into the incinerator. I don't know, I don't care. It's their business, their freight, not mine.

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
I am contracted to haul freight, not to make a moral judgment on the contents, so the answer is yes, I'd take it without reservation.
I can (and do) refrain from buying material that I find offensive, but it's not a parameter I'd include when accepting or refusing a load.

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
For the record, we did not refuse to haul any of these commodities. We to were contracted to haul freight and have No problem hauling what we're asked to haul as long as its not illegal.
All I was courious to know from the religious members of this group, how do they handle such issues.Husband & wife O/O stepdeck team

You're welcome.
PS If I were paid to decide what's offensive, having a female silhouette on the truck would be grounds for arrest....

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
Question: Where does a driver stand if he is hauling "Printed Material" and for some reason he is stopped by the law and he is hauling kiddie porn, or something of that nature.

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
My guess is it would depend on whether the contents were visible, and what was listed on the BOL.
I recall being asked what I was hauling by a Customs officer at the Canadian border. My response (the BOL listed only part numbers) was "I don't know" (Yes, I should have said "Auto parts", duh!) She then asked "What if it were drugs?" To which I could only respond "Then Chrysler has some explaining to do, eh?"
Luckily, she had a sense of humor.......
It is an interesting question, though: how much responsibility do we bear for the presence of 'contraband' in the freight?

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
Funny Story don't know if it is true or not, just heard it years ago when I was working for a courier service, Company gets a call to have a driver pick up at a Residence and deliver to another Residence crosstown. Driver does the job. samething the following week and again for the next 4 weeks, Last time the drivers makes the delivery, he gets Busted for running drugs. Driver is later cleared of wrong doing but the 2 that lived at the residences or now guests of the county gray bar inn. as for me I don't ask I just deliver. That was my Job.

Thats all I was trying to do is get the thoughts of others but when questioned as to the seriousness of the thread, I chose to pull it rather than start a ****ing match. Lord knows we have enough of that going around! LOL

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
I'm sure that I'm about to get lambasted for this but here's what I'd do and why: IF I knew that the load was ANY kind of porn, especially kiddie porn, I would NOT haul the load...no matter what it paid. Why? Because this is MY OWN personal moral and religious beliefs and reasons. I am NOT slamming nor condemming anyone who would do different. I am merely stating that I personally would not haul this kind of stuff on my trucks for any amount of money.

Re: Morals, religion, and accepting certain loads
As others have stated, if it isn't illegal, then it isn't my place to make a judgment. It's freight
