to do or not to do
I have just been cleared thru fed x,and the owner tells me that he has to get another driver cleared before he can put me on. Can anyone tell me what reprocations I can expect from Fed X if I hire on with another owner?

If you mean 'repercussions', there shouldn't be any from the carrier - your agreement is with the owner. Depending on how long the delay would be, why should you wait for another driver to get cleared?

Re: to do or not to do
When the owner called me, He said he had a solo driver already driving for FedX andhe wanted to team up for more miles. The owner is telling me a differant storey now.

Without knowing any more of the story, I'll just say that I'd be wary of an owner whose 'story' changes...and I'd be extremely reluctant to be expected to run team with a stranger, too.

Be sure you've done your research and homework and be sure you have a written contract with everything in writing no matter who you drive for.

Re: to do or not to do
Since I like to gamble, my bet is on the owner saying he would hire you, and in the process found someone qualified by the carrier. Or.......he never intended to hire a solo and is mating folks for a team operation.
If, and I say if he is bs'ing you now, pretty good chance he will be bs'ing you later.fleet owner

Re: to do or not to do
You went through the process to drive as a sub-contractor to drive under FedEx authority. not for the owner.
FedEx doesn't care what fleet owner you drive for, they put the effort into getting you processed to drive FOR them.
I would call the contractor people back and ask if there is another owner looking for a solo driver and see what happens.Greg

Re: to do or not to do
Thank you gregg, I talked to FedX today and they told me they were wondering why they have not seen me in a truck yet, but they did tell me if I went outside of FedX for employment that I would be taken out of their system and I would have to reapply later if interested.
