While at the Expedite Show in Detroit I had a positive outlook for this business, but now red flags are going up. I called at least seven different companies, none are hiring vans, and a couple havn't hired any for 6-9 months. (???) One was hiring but I don't team. What's truly going on with the B/Van units??? Any advice or insight?

For the last few years there has been a definite move to straight trucks. From the carriers point of view if they have a unit in Omaha, NE - it is better for them if it is a straight truck because they can haul 4 different levels of freight - much more then a cargo van that is limited to just a cargo van load.

There will always be cargo vans - but they will be around in much smaller numbers.
