Just finished my first 3 weeks as a van expediter
I signed on with TriState and have just finished my first tour as an expediter. After dealing with irrate shipping clerks, deadheading for hundreds of miles and finding no freight, waiting at truck stops for days, drinking coffee that could peel paint, buying diesel with water in it (while loaded), running through snow storms in Buffalo and Nashville, and eating food containing enough grease to grease a class 8 truck--I must tell you---I LOVE IT! Some of the nicest people on this earth runs expedite frieght. So, if anybody sees TriState unit# 649, stop and say hi. See ya on the Highways!:)

>I signed on with TriState and have just finished my first
>tour as an expediter. ---The battle is just now starting!
>After dealing with irrate shipping
>clerks, ---IRRATE! you haven't seen anything, just wait!
>deadheading for hundreds of miles and finding no
>freight, ---Only to find out later that those nice people got the freight and not you!!! Some will go as far as finding the load you may have just received, call dispatch, work out a deal, and the next page you get is saying the load has been canceled!!! Watch what you say to people, and to whom your saying it to. There are also alot of cut throats out there!!!
>waiting at truck stops for days,---did you set up your mail box at the old Detroiter yet!!!
>drinking coffee that could peel paint,---I redid an old dresser and used it inplace of strippies!
>buying diesel with water in it (while
>loaded),---Your lucky it was only water!
>running through snow storms in Buffalo and
>Nashville,---Being from Bamba I gues that looked like alot to you, but it really wasn't-just wait for a real snow storm!!!
>and eating food containing enough grease to
>grease a class 8 truck ---This is a plus, you can fill you belly and lube your van all at the same time!
>--I must tell you---I LOVE IT! ---------You just got a disease, that just came out of remission, you need to see a doctor!
>Some of the nicest people on this earth runs expedite frieght.---So do some of the worse people!
>So, if anybody sees TriState unit# 649, stop and say hi.---I'm always running the green stamp in the Buckeye, and I'll be looking for ya!!! Welcome to our world!!! The wonderful world of expediting, and won't let anyone tell you any different. I can see that your all pumped up right now, and noone is going to tell you anything to change your mind. Do yourself a favor and make a copy of your post, and when you let expediting get to ya, pull this out and read it.
>See ya on the Highways!:)---Just stay strong and aggressive, and don't take NO for an answer!!!!!! AND YES YOU ARE RIGHT, SOME OF US ARE NICE!!!!}> }> }> }> }> }>

AWWW, come on.. It doesn't all suck!.. Just most of it sucks, most of the time.... the good part is that you get so used to suckiness that when something good happens to you it's like a double decker ice cream cone! After a while the rude shipping/receiving people won't even faze you- they are to be expected. When you get a decent one.. WOW!!
Snowstorms?? Always a good reason to stop and pull over for some sleep if the dispatchers aren't watching the weather channel.
Good (consistent) coffee, impossible. I brew my own now.

Ok i'm just going to address the coffee issue. being a lover of coffee and drinking it from the time i get up till i go to bed. when your on the road, especially in a van. there's no reason to drink bad coffee. if theres no dunkin donuts or tim hortons in the area,McDonalds is your next best bet.

jim bunting from the Great White North, soon to be the Bahamas, yah mon!! I have to dis-agree with your comment on McDonald's coffee. I would rather have my neither regions sprayed with Varsol. than drink their insipient offerings, especially after the day shift makes 12 pots and leaves them to be consumed overnight. At least at Tim Hortons, they mark the time the pot was made in white crayon on the pot, and throw it out after 20 minutes, and make a fresh pot. They also use real cream, not that imitation wattered down crap that passes for "coffee creamer" in the states. Jim Bunting.
