Re: Why High Gas prices?
Is anyone surprised? They have been trying to push the price on fuel up for years. They publically said it on many ocassions. It was one of Gore's biggest projects. The same Dems are calling for a .50 raise in the fuel tax. To fund public transportation better. Socialism at it's finest. Layoutshooter

Re: Why High Gas prices?
No, not all taxes. Just the ones that take money earned by one person and give it to another soley for the seconds persons gain. Like welfare, medicare, medicade etc etc. People who use public transportation should pay for it. The smallest businesses in the country, independent owner/operators should not. I work for the benifit of my wife and my self. Charity is a matter of choice. It should not be forced by law. I can't afford to pay for someone in Detroit, Toledo or where ever to get to work or use that transportation to further thier crime career. Like prostitutes, drug dealers etc. I ask for nothing that I did not earn. I give to causes/charities as I see fit. I have served in many capacities when needed. Military, intel service, volunteer fire and ambulance, teaching 4H classes etc etc etc. EVERYTHING IS MY CHOICE. GET IT? THAT IS WHAT FREEDOM IS!!! Hear that Obama? Stay out of my life and my pockets. Period. And that goes for everyone else too. Layoutshooter

It isn't the tax so much as what it funds that constitutes socialism. Take something that we are all familiar with and rely on; roads. Most roads in this country, excluding toll roads, were built and maintained with tax money. Socialism at work. Same goes for public schools, sewer and water service and many other things. The real question is how much government sponsored goodies are you willing to put up with and pay for?

Re: Why High Gas prices?
"The one thing we fail to talk about is those costs that you don't see on the bottom line. That is, coal makes us sick, oil makes us sick. It's global warming. It's ruining our country. It's ruining our world. We've got to stop using fossil fuel. We have for generations taken carbon out of the earth and put it in the atmosphere, and it's making us all sick. It's changing our world."
Harry Reid, the real-estate wiz.... print it and tape it to your sun visor.
One important factoid;
The Federal Bureau of Investigation under J E Hoover took real pride in one thing among many - the return of investment made in the bureau by the American people. In the 1950’s, they returned every dollar given to them plus 5 cents. In 1961, they returned every dollar plus 25 cents. When Hoover died, the return was every dollar plus 30 cents but when Mark Felt (that great American traitor) took over and then Patrick Gray, the congress made some changes as part of their suggestions to the bureau and there was less of a control over finances as Hoover had by the directors so it no longer return anything but ran a deficit of 30% by ’75 and by the mid 80’s ran 50% in the red.
The point is that government can do something about all these problems but someone in government has to go beyond the political worries and just do the right thing. Obama wants to tax us more to make up for the short falls in these systems and much like SS, some claim that it is this or that and they need more money but outside of the concept itself, the mechanisms to keep things going are not there and never been there and the program has to be dealt with in such a drastic manner to move forward that no one wants to even consider bringing up the subject. Many of the programs like AMTRAK are failing where at one time, there were no subsidies to mass transit, because it was privately run and they made money at it. Why is it that people are now riding AMTRAK in record numbers but they are posting record losses?

Re: Why High Gas prices?
Good roads? Where? Water systrems are failing all over the country. So are sewers. Good schools? where? Kids get out of school who can't read or write. Meet one lately that make change for a dollar without the cash register? Need I go one? My wifes cousin home schools all her kids, 6 of the. All that are old enough scored VERY high on the SAT's and went on to college. Compare that with the Detroit public schools with over a 50% drop out rate. Yep, socialism at it's finest. Just remember, Karl was one of the Marx brothers, comedians all. Layoutshooter
